Background[]

V4 02 00009

A young Weiss in a family portrait

Weiss was born as an heiress to the Schnee Dust Company, which her father currently controls. However, due to the company's mistreatment of Faunus labor and the resulting escalating backlash targeted at both the company and her family by the Faunus Civil Rights Protest and the White Fang, her childhood upbringing was a "very difficult" one.

She accounts multiple times greeting her stress-ridden, aggravated father after the workday, which produced a very uneasy family lifestyle when Weiss was a child. She also recalls several hardships within the company, such as the disappearance of family and friends, as well as the execution of company board members at the hand of the White Fang extremists. As a result, her frustration and hatred were directed towards Faunus as the cause of her family's troubles.

On Weiss' tenth birthday, Jacques missed his daughter's party and Weiss' mother confronted him. It is here that her father admits that he married his wife only for the Schnee family name. Weiss bore witness to the fractured family as her parents had separate meals and sat on different balconies during her recitals. Eventually, her mother descended into alcoholism as a way of coping with a marriage to a cold and uncaring man.

Volume 5 Weiss Character Short[]

During her flight to Mistral, Weiss thinks back on a training session with Winter Schnee. Weiss is shown facing off against numerous white Beowolves in what is presumably the Schnee manor's frozen courtyard. With the use of her Semblance, Weiss manages to successfully hold her own against the Grimm until they manage to disarm and overwhelm her. As Weiss calls for her sister, Winter stops the Beowolf summons, causing them to disappear into the falling snow. After striking Myrtenaster into the ground, Winter informs Weiss she must be able to save herself, and Weiss promises to get better. Walking away, Winter reminds her sister that improving will be necessary if she wants to leave.

"White" Trailer[]

Weiss is a singer, as shown in the trailer. She also has a history with the Schnee Training Room, with it serving as the place where, in a flashback sequence, she fights the Arma Gigas.

Manga[]

Weiss is seen with Team RWBY in the Beacon Academy food halls talking about the nature and uses of Dust, before they are interrupted by Cardin Winchester throwing Jaune Arc into their table, sending it flying. When Cardin begins antagonizing Ruby Rose, who stepped in to defend Jaune, Professor Glynda Goodwitch appears and turns the situation into an official sparring match. Ruby nervously freezes up due to the large audience present and the size of The Executioner, but with some encouragement from Weiss, manages to defeat Cardin fairly easily.

The third chapter explores Weiss Schnee's backstory before she met the rest of her team. As the heiress of the Schnee Dust Company she was raised from youth to strive to be the best in all she did and excelled at activities such as singing and playing the piano. Although praise was generously heaped upon her by others, she had always lacked the approval and recognition of her father.

Years later, Weiss is training in combat with Myrtenaster, under the supervision of her father's aide, the President's Secretary. The Secretary praises her skills in combat and mastery of her Semblance but comments that she must continue to apply herself in her training at Atlas Academy. Weiss reminds him that she has no desire to study at Atlas and that she has instead decided to study at Beacon Academy in Vale, in order to put distance between her and the family. When the Secretary attempts to dissuade her from studying at Beacon, claiming her father is merely concerned for her well-being and thus wishes to keep her close by, Weiss acerbically calls the Secretary a puppet of her father.

In response, the Secretary unleashes her next opponent, an enormous animated suit of armor which has been "possessed" by multiple specimens of Geist Grimm. The armor was created by the Company from captured Grimm specimens and is described as being as powerful as a mech and three times stronger than the original model, giving Weiss what he believes to be no chance of winning. It is revealed by the Secretary that this is a "test" formulated by her father, who expects her to win in order to prove herself and earn permission to attend Beacon if she continues to be "selfish". Weiss retaliates with Myrtenaster as the suit attacks. As she fights, Weiss decides that she is tired of continuously living up to the expectations of others. She also narrates that she used to carry a distorted view of family pride and had no sense of self, and she now seeks to create a sense of self that she can be proud of, just like Winter did.

Welcome to Beacon Academy[]

As Weiss and her servants begin moving cases to her room at Beacon, she gets into a dispute with Ruby Rose, who has crashed into her belongings. As Ruby watches Weiss beginning to gather her stuff, she accidentally sneezes due to Dust inhalation, and subsequently causes a small explosion of Dust in their faces, angering Weiss.

1102 The Shining Beacon 03668

Weiss' first interaction with Ruby

Weiss is further angered when Ruby continues to be disoriented in response to her scolding. Blake Belladonna interrupts the dispute, recognizing Weiss as the heiress to the Schnee Dust Company. Initially delighted to get some recognition, her pleasure dissipates when Blake also brings up the controversy surrounding the company, causing her to storm off.

Within the main assembly hall of the academy, Weiss confronts Ruby, lecturing her on Dust and the Schnee Dust Company, accompanied with a pamphlet on Dust. She tells Ruby to never speak to her again. While giving this lecture, Weiss also gets into an argument with Yang Xiao Long.

Later that night, Weiss complains about the noise keeping her awake, only to find that the three noisemakers are the three people she had confrontations with earlier. This leads to another argument.

Beacon Academy Initiation[]

1104 The First Step 06677

Weiss interrupting Jaune's attempt to align with Pyrrha

Weiss attempts to form a team with Pyrrha Nikos, in attempts to form a pair of "the strongest and the smartest" students at Beacon. However, her scheming is interrupted by Jaune, who interjects and tries to flirt with her. Jaune tries to flirt with Pyrrha too until Weiss bursts out that Pyrrha is a very good fighter and out of his league.

Jaune continues, however, but Weiss gets Pyrrha to throw Miló at Jaune, ending the conversation as the girls leave the locker room. Weiss is then seen on the launch pad lineup on Beacon Cliff, and again when she is catapulted into the air.

After using her glyphs to safely land on the ground, Weiss runs into Ruby in the Emerald Forest. Without a second thought, she turns away, trying to find a different partner while Ruby trails behind her.

When the next person she runs into is the helpless Jaune, who has been pinned to a tree by Pyrrha's javelin, Weiss concedes to Ruby's badgering and teams up with her. After prompting Ruby to keep up, the younger girl claims that she is very fast and rushes off, leaving Weiss alone before several Beowolves encircle her.

She prepares to fight the Grimm that have appeared. As she attempts to get into the proper stance and prepares to attack, Ruby steps in and attacks the Beowolf, causing her Dust attack to misfire and set part of the forest ablaze. This sparks an argument about battle style between the two of them.

As Glynda informs Ozpin of the status of the teams, Ozpin watches Ruby and Weiss argue on his Scroll. In the forest, Weiss paces around in circles trying to find the correct way to go and constantly reversing her direction. When Ruby confronts her about her unwillingness to admit she is wrong and has no idea where they are, Weiss still refuses to admit it and claims she knows exactly where they are going before saying that Ruby does not know where they are either.

1107 The Emerald Forest Pt

Weiss and Ruby, at odds, again

This leads Ruby to admit that while she does not know where they are, she is not pretending to know everything like Weiss. Weiss starts another argument with Ruby over how they handle themselves when making mistakes. When Ruby tells Weiss to stop acting like she is perfect, Weiss confesses that she is not, at least not yet, but she is still far ahead of Ruby. Weiss then walks away from Ruby back into the woods.

Ruby and Weiss are both latched onto the back of a flying Nevermore because of an idea Ruby has. Weiss begins to hate the idea, but when Ruby suggests they jump, she calls Ruby crazy, only to then notice that she had actually jumped. Weiss continues to fly on the Nevermore until she falls off and Jaune tries to impress her by catching her, only for them both to fall and Weiss lands safely on his back. Later, when Ruby tries to kill a Death Stalker and fails, Weiss moves in and traps its stinger in ice to save Ruby.

Weiss then lists most of Ruby's faults but agrees to be nicer if Ruby will stop showing off. Ruby admits that she was trying to prove she can take care of herself, but Weiss says she is fine. Weiss then notes that each team can gain a relic as they are all at the temple and they all retreat to an old castle. Once there, Weiss, Yang, Blake and Ruby try to fight the Nevermore, but it simply brushes off their attacks.

Ruby then claims she has a plan and asks Weiss to cover her. As Blake, Ruby, and Yang get into position, Weiss freezes the Nevermore's tail to the ground before retreating and using Myrtenaster to pull Ruby back, while Blake and Yang use Gambol Shroud's ribbon as a large slingshot to aid in their efforts.

Weiss launches Ruby and she hooks the Nevermore's neck with Crescent Rose, pinning it to a cliffside. Weiss then makes multiple platforms to allow Ruby to pull the Nevermore up the side of the cliff and cut the Nevermore's head off. Back at Beacon, Weiss is made a member of the newly formed Team RWBY.

Start of Classes[]

1109 The Badge and The Burden 3974

Weiss, obviously not enjoying the idea of bunkbeds

Weiss is assigned a dorm to live in with her team. As she wakes up, she is shocked when Ruby blows a whistle right next to her ear. Ruby then decides on their first order of business, which is setting up their room. Weiss agrees to unpack and sets up her belongings, which includes a large picture of a forest.

After they do so, Weiss points out they have no room for the beds. Ruby suggests making bunk-beds, which Weiss opposes, but is outvoted and the team makes two sets of unstable bunk-beds. Ruby then moves on to their next order of business and talks about a class at 9:00, during which Weiss interrupts her to point out it is already 8:55, and the girls, followed by Team JNPR, dash off to class.

While in class, Weiss takes notes on everything that Peter Port talks about, but later begins to doze off during one of his stories. When Professor Port talks about a story from his past, she becomes annoyed at Ruby's distracting laughs and nose-picking, prompting her to impulsively volunteer herself to confront a monster directly after Professor Port asks for a volunteer.

10 00001

Weiss prepares to fight the Boarbatusk.

Weiss faces down the Boarbatusk in class, but becomes frustrated when the fight starts out poorly. Ruby tries to give her advice, but Weiss considers her to be a nuisance and yells at her. She manages to defeat the Grimm, using the advice Ruby had given, before leaving the room as the class had ended.

Ruby follows her out and Weiss admits thatshe does not believe Ruby should be the team's leader and she should. She then leaves Ruby and goes to Professor Port. She asks him if Ozpin could have made a mistake in picking Ruby as the leader, but Port instead sides with Ozpin despite all the compliments he had given Weiss earlier.

Port correctly guesses that Weiss growing up always got her way and as a result, she has a poor attitude when she is disappointed. He suggests that she should instead try and be the best person she can be and she accepts his advice. She later goes to see Ruby, seeing that she had fallen asleep when studying and wakes her up. She gets Ruby a new cup of coffee and tells her she will be the best teammate Ruby could have.

Weiss is later seen during Jaune's fight with Cardin, sitting with Yang, Ruby, and Pyrrha. Weiss and her two teammates fail to contain their excitement they hear about the upcoming Vytal Festival, an upcoming combat tournament that is held with other kingdoms who would soon arrive in Vale.

Over the next few days, Weiss continues to excel in her classes. In Bartholomew Oobleck's history class, she correctly answers a question about the Faunus Rights Revolution. She later attends a field trip to Forever Fall in order to collect red sap. She also witnesses the fight between Jaune and an Ursa and is the first to prepare to help when it looks like Jaune is in trouble until Pyrrha holds her back.

1114 Forever Fall Pt

Weiss, Ruby and Pyrrha watch Jaune face down the Ursa Major.

Weiss witnesses Pyrrha use her Semblance to help Jaune slightly and when Pyrrha explains she has the power of polarity, Weiss corrects Ruby when she mistakes Pyrrha's "polarity" as the ability to "control poles", noting that it means controlling magnetism. After Pyrrha leaves and tells the two to keep the events that just occurred a secret, both Weiss and Ruby smile at one another in agreement.

Team Divided[]

1115 The Stray 01423

Weiss, seemingly excited for the Vytal festival

As Team RWBY goes to town for a major cultural festival, they happen among a crime scene: a Dust store in the aftermath of a robbery. As Yang and Ruby speculate on the perpetrator, Weiss proclaims that no matter who did it, performing the act automatically classifies them as a lowlife.

Team RWBY then witnesses an incident between the local police and Sun Wukong. They decide to chase after him, whereupon Weiss crashes into Penny Polendina, Sun and the police leaving the girls' sights. She wants to press the chase on Sun and repeatedly slurs Faunus. This causes Blake to be offended, which soon causes an argument between her and Weiss.

Back in her dorm, she explains why she deeply mistrusts Faunus: Because of an ongoing war between the Schnee Dust Company and the Faunus, she became a target for the Faunus' attacks. In the explanation Blake interrupts, accidentally implying that she was a Faunus, shattering what trust Weiss had for her. Blake flees their dorm in the realization of what she did. The next day, Team RWBY goes out in search for Blake, with Weiss expressing her disbelief that a member of the White Fang was among them.

As they search, Penny shows up and talks to Ruby. This leaves Yang and Weiss a window of escape, and they flee. Later, as Yang and Weiss exit a building, Yang asks if Weiss cares whether or not they find Blake.

1116 Black and White 19847

Weiss, upon meeting Blake again in "Black and White"

Weiss responds that she does care, but is afraid of how Blake will act when they meet. When Weiss meets back up with Blake, she states that she does not care about Blake's history. After having thought of it for the twelve hours the girls took to find Blake, Weiss tells her to talk to Team RWBY next time information of heavy importance comes up.

Beginning the Second Semester[]

1201 Best Day Ever 14495

A defeated Weiss

Weiss eats lunch in the dining hall with Yang and Blake when Ruby enters with a large binder of ideas on how to spend their final day before the second term. Weiss accuses Ruby of taking her binder, but Ruby claims she "is not a crook". Despite fearing what Ruby has planned, Weiss feels that she feels that they should do it as a team when Blake tries to back out. Nora Valkyrie accidentally hits Weiss' face with a pie while she and Yang toss food at each other.

This results in a food fight between the two teams, and the other students clear the dining hall. She manages to make Lie Ren slip into some tables with ketchup and later duels Nora with a swordfish, but she is defeated when Nora hits her with a watermelon hammer. After the fight is over, Yang crashes through the roof, and the team laughs together.

Later, Team RWBY plays a board game in the library, but Weiss is confused by how to play. Yang informs her of possible plays she can make, but Weiss is still confused until Ruby explains she could quickly take over the world. She prepares to play, but Yang counters and destroys Weiss' armies, causing her to break into tears alongside the crying Ruby. Ruby tries to comfort her with a hug, which Weiss returns while protesting by telling Ruby not to touch her. Jaune tries to enter the game, but Weiss protests. Soon after, Sun enters the library with Neptune Vasilias, who introduces himself to the group and flirts successfully with Weiss.

V2 02 00028

Weiss tells Blake to tell everyone what she's been feeling

That night, Weiss, Ruby, and Yang returned to the room, and Weiss stops Blake as she attempts to leave. Weiss confronts her about her recent quiet and antisocial behavior, reminding her she agreed to tell them whenever something bothers her. Blake expresses her concerns about lack of actions against Roman Torchwick and the White Fang, but Weiss feels that they are not ready yet to take on the role of true Huntresses.

Blake counters, saying they may never be ready and that their enemies will not wait until they are real Huntresses before attacking. Ruby suggests they try and take down the White Fang by themselves, and despite Weiss' earlier protests, Weiss agrees to go along with their plan as "it could be fun".

RWBY Investigations[]

V2 03 00008

Weiss dons her "SnowPea" outfit.

Weiss is seen in Peter Port's class, seemingly waiting for it to end. When Jaune asks her out it seems she is not paying him attention, but she eventually she refuses his invitation. She is later seen in her team's dorm room changing clothes, the team sporting completely different attire from that of their normal combat clothing.

After Weiss mentions how she and Ruby will gain information on the Schnee Dust Company, she notes that it should not be a problem, since she is a member of the family. The team is then startled by Sun, along with Neptune, who both agree to help out in their investigation. Weiss asks Ruby to pair her with Neptune, and that she should be paired with Yang since both are sisters, but Ruby laughs at the idea and pulls Weiss out of their room, much to her dismay.

Outside, the two are talking about how the four kingdoms communicate with one another, shortly before running into Penny, who then runs away, leaving both Weiss and Ruby confused. Ruby then decides to go check on Penny and informs Weiss that will catch up with her later.

Weiss then heads to the Cross Continental Transmit Center to get information on her families company, some of it being highly sensitive. After contacting the Schnee Company World Headquarters in Atlas, she is answered by an attendant with whom she is familiar with. Refusing to talk to her father as per the attendant's query, the attendant gives her the information she needed and signs off. Weiss then stares sadly at the screen.

Weiss is seen leaving the CCT Center when she receives a distress call from Blake. She arrives and joins her team in a fight against Roman, who is piloting an Atlesian Paladin-290, granting her team support while also attacking the giant machine.

V2 04 00074

Weiss and Ruby fight Roman.

With teamwork and planning from her partner Ruby, the four girls manage to beat Roman, thus destroying the large robot, however, the criminal escapes with a girl named Neopolitan, who aided him. After the duo retreats Weiss makes a joke that is not well received by the other girls, except for Ruby who snickers.

Aftermath and The Dance[]

Weiss is seen with her team attending a sparring match between Pyrrha and Team CRDL. Shortly after the end of a second match between Mercury Black and Pyrrha, Team RWBY discusses how the investigation has been stressing out Blake, all in front of her. Weiss and the team implore her to go to the dance and assure her that they will all continue their investigation after the dance.

V2 05 00073

Weiss rejects Jaune's advances.

However, even after pointing out on how she barely sleeps and eats, and has bad grades, Blake refuses again and leaves, leaving her team disappointed. Weiss is then met with a surprise in the form of Jaune attempting to ask her to the dance via serenade, to which she slams the door in his face. Her team points out this is why she is nicknamed "Ice Queen".

Weiss and Yang are then seen decorating a ballroom in preparation for the upcoming dance. She asks Ruby to pick between two tablecloths, but after her partner points out that both are the same, she wonders partially to Ruby but largely to herself why she even bothered asking. As Sun and Neptune enter the room, she asks them if they are going to the dance, with Sun saying that where he is from they tend not to use formal clothing.

When Ruby brings up that she does not know what to else to do with Blake, Weiss agrees and wonders what they should do next. Later that day, Weiss asks Neptune if he would like to go to the dance with her, leaving a hidden Jaune heartbroken.

V2 06 00044

Weiss at the dance with Ruby and Yang

The next day at the dance, Weiss is seen alongside Ruby and Yang, glad that Blake came to the dance. When Ruby asks what they should do next, Weiss and Yang head in opposite directions, leaving her complaining about her dress. She spends a great deal of time alone in a chair during the dance due to Neptune rejecting her, unaware Neptune declined because he could not dance.

Later in the evening, Neptune approached her and started shared a conversation while the dance escalated. Weiss asked why he changed his mind since he was "embarrassed at first", to which Neptune looks at Jaune and says "you're looking at him", surprising her. As Neptune comments she has "nice friends looking out for you", Weiss becomes a bit guilty about her behavior towards Jaune.

The Mountain Glenn Mission[]

V2 08 00017

Weiss and her team find Zwei in the mail.

Weiss, along with her teammates confront Ruby upon her arrival to their dorm room and ask her what happened. When Ruby reveals her fight with Cinder Fall, Weiss says that fighting was incredibly risky, although Blake and Yang thought otherwise and approved of Ruby's actions.

Shortly after that, and the revelation of a package delivered to Ruby and Yang, Weiss became quickly enamored with their dog Zwei, and alongside her team and other first-year students, were drawn to the assembly hall by Glynda where Ozpin gave a speech on a war that ended eighty years ago.

After the end of the speech, the team decided to take a mission called Quadrant 5 from Search and Destroy but were unable due to Team RWBY being first years, but with a little "bending the rules" from Ozpin, they were allowed to. Weiss and her team then meet up with Velvet Scarlatina from Team CFVY who informs them of why they were so late, but wishes them luck and safety on their mission.

However, despite being ready for their mission, along with Ruby's enthusiasm and belief on how they never give up on anything, Weiss and her team are left completely and utterly shocked upon the huntsmen accompanying them, who is none other than Bartholomew Oobleck.

V2 09 00001

Dr. Oobleck certainly didn't earn his PhD for fun.

Weiss and her team, still in shock at Oobleck being their Huntsman are informed by the latter on the reasons of their mission. When Weiss attempts to ask a question by calling him Professor Oobleck pointedly tells her to address him as "Doctor", before speeding off towards the airship.

As her leader attempts to cheer them up, they are met by Team JNPR, along with Sun and Neptune, who each talk about their mission, but after being called by Oobleck, the three teams part ways to head towards their mission as Team RWBY heads towards the bulkhead, and head towards Mountain Glenn, and are briefed even more on the mission. When Weiss asks what Oobleck's expertise on history has to do with their mission he promptly reprimands her that history forms the backbone of their society, along with the liver, and probably the kidneys as well.

After arriving, they eventually encounter a pack of Beowolves, something made completely obvious by Oobleck, and dispatch them over the course of the day. At one point Oobleck asks Weiss and the rest of Team RWBY, save for Ruby, why she became a Huntress, and she answers that once she learned she had the ability to fight there was no question it was her duty to do so in order to uphold her family's legacy.

Sometime later, after Ruby and Oobleck head out to scout the perimeter, Weiss, Yang and Blake reflect on Oobleck's question, but when Weiss says it is more to uphold a family legacy, they all agree that they really do not know the complete answer. When Ruby takes first watch, the rest of the girls prepare their beds and lie down with downed faces.

V2 10 00015

The girls talk on their reasons for becoming Huntresses

As Ruby continues to keep watch, Weiss, along with Yang and Blake discuss why Oobleck asked them as to why they wanted to be Huntresses. Weiss brings up what she said about honoring her family's name again, but adds that she is fully aware of the status her family's company now occupies, and how it is currently operating in a moral gray area since her father took over. She feels that she needs to make things right, that taking a different job "wouldn't have changed anything", and just as her family name did not begin with her father, she would not let it end with him either.

As Yang explains her and Ruby's reasons for becoming Huntresses and how Ruby always seemed to know what she wanted, Weiss adds that Ruby is still just a kid, which Blake counters by saying that they are all still kids. Weiss states what they chose is a job and that they romanticized their views on being a Huntress, and they now had to realize that whatever they might want would have to come in second to their duty to protect the people.

Sometime later that same night, with Yang noticing Ruby's absence, Zwei comes running in and leads them to Ruby's last location, as her scythe remained above the collapsed street area. As Weiss, Blake and Yang look at each other in concern for their leader, Oobleck, after telling the girls the history behind the location, readies his weapon and tells them that if Ruby really did fall, then they have to go after her. Decidedly, the team descends into the crevice and engages the White Fang.

V2 11 00025

Weiss during the assault on the train.

Amidst their assault, Ruby frees herself from Roman's capture and rejoins the team. As Weiss asks if she's fine, Ruby rushes her response in lieu of informing the others of the departing train carrying vast amounts of weapons and robots. Oobleck states such a thing is preposterous since the tunnel has been sealed, only to be debunked by Roman's intercom announcement. Unable to get a call outside, Weiss asks what should they do, to which Oobleck and Ruby reply jointly to stop the train.

After successfully boarding the train, Weiss opens a compartment on top of the train, revealing a device planted in it. She asks Oobleck about it, again calling him "professor", to which he corrects her by saying "Doctor", who identifies it as a bomb. With the White Fang approaching from the forward cars and the bomb remaining active, the team rushes over to the next car as the previous one decouples and explodes.

Upon her later inspection of a similar compartment with Ruby, the group discovers each car is armed with a bomb and begin advancing towards the front of the train, engaging the White Fang as they go.

Weiss glides across the cars, using Myrtenaster to freeze the path behind her, then abruptly stops at the end of the pack and disarms the members. As the team finishes off the White Fang members atop the train, Oobleck shouts out that the train is leading the Grimm into the city by creating holes in the surface for the Grimm to escape, ordering Weiss, Blake, and Yang to go below and stop the cars while he and Ruby try to stop the train.

V2 11 00035

Weiss hands Blake a magazine of Dust cartridges.

Once inside the cars, Weiss hands Blake a magazine of Dust cartridges for her Gambol Shroud, saying she might need it. As they progress forward, Neo appears before the trio to stop them. However, Yang tells her teammates to go ahead while she deals with Neo. However, Weiss and Blake encounter the White Fang Lieutenant wielding a chainsaw. Weiss tells Blake she will handle him while Blake goes on ahead. Weiss parries his attacks as Blake exits the car, but re-poises as he stands and chuckles that he will "get to kill a Schnee".

As Weiss' fight with the White Fang Lieutenant ensues, she defends and dodges his chainsaw swings while countering with a series of quick strikes. Eventually, she uses her Semblance to create glyphs around him while simultaneously creating a speed glyph under her, allowing Weiss to perform an omnidirectional combination strike. However, he recovers and catches Weiss by her head, slamming her into the floor before throwing her into the air and swinging at her with his chainsaw.

Later, while Blake is seen confronting Roman in the front car, Weiss is revealed to have been defeated, as the White Fang Lieutenant tosses her into the car with Blake, before preparing to finish her. As he approaches Weiss, Blake grabs her incapacitated teammate and retreats. Both rendezvous with Yang and Ruby atop the train as it approaches a dead end. Weiss then impales Myrtenaster into the car, creating an ice barrier around the team as the train collides with the end of the tunnel, bursting into the center of Vale.

V2 12 00021

Weiss fights the horde.

After recovering from the crash, Weiss and her teammates witness a large horde of Grimm emerge from the tunnel and begin to terrorize the city. As they regroup in the plaza, the team is surrounded by Grimm. Team RWBY engages the oncoming Grimm, with Weiss striking down Grimm one-by-one as they approach her. Soon, Teams JNPR and CFVY, along with Sun, Neptune, Emerald Sustrai, Mercury, the Atlesian forces, and several Beacon Professors, join the fight to contain the swarming Grimm.

Once the Grimm infestation was neutralized and the breach caused by the train collision was sealed, everyone gathered in victory. Team RWBY returned to Beacon and talk to assess the events that transpired over the past two days. Weiss jokingly comments states that she would be disappointed if they did not get extra credit for everything. However, as Ruby voices her concerns over being unable to solve all the mysteries surrounding their investigation, Weiss reminds her that "not every story has a neat and tidy ending".

With their investigation currently at a close, Yang asks what to do next, to which Weiss replies that they should train for the tournament but believes the team has that covered. With dawn approaching, the team decides to get some much-needed sleep.

Vytal Festival Tournament[]

At the enormous floating stadium Amity Colosseum, Team RWBY's first match in the Vytal Festival tournament is with Team ABRN of Haven Academy. Weiss gives a stellar performance throughout the match, using her Semblance and Dust to great effect against her opponents. After an action-packed match, Team RWBY emerges victorious, and they then head to the Vytal Festival fairgrounds to get a meal.

There, they run into Emerald, who praises their performance in the match. It is revealed that Weiss will be joining Yang in moving forward onto the doubles round to represent Team RWBY, whilst Emerald and Mercury will move on from their team. Emerald remarks that they will not go easy on them if they happen to be paired up, and they bid farewell.

V3e1 60

Weiss rejects a call from her father

As they look for a place to eat, Weiss receives a phone call from her father, which she declines to answer. Team RWBY ends up eating at a noodle store run by the Shopkeep. Weiss attempts to pay for her team's meals as thanks for getting her through to the next round, but her credit card is declined, much to her surprise.

Fortunately, Pyrrha arrives and pays for their meal instead, and they are joined by JNPR for their meal. After they have eaten, JNPR is called away to their next match. Weiss and her team follow them over to the stadium, taking their place at the spectator stands to cheer their friends on.

During the match between Team JNPR and Team BRNZ, she comments positively on how Jaune's skills improved. After their friends' victory, they are later seen watching Team SSSN's match. At first, Weiss cheers for Neptune, but after seeing him attempting to flirt with the members of Team NDGO, she quickly changes her allegiance. After Sun and Neptune win the match, she catches sight of the approaching aircraft and says with seeming awe and admiration, "She's here...".

When she runs to the Beacon cliffs, she calls for her sister Winter's attention. As Weiss tries to catch up with Winter, many of her questions cannot be answered due to the answers containing classified information. When Winter asks how Weiss has been, she has to correct that she meant Weiss' well being and not her merits.

After Coco Adel and Yatsuhashi Daichi are defeated by Emerald and Mercury in the tournament, Weiss shares a meal with her sister. She says she has improved in training immensely, even now working with time dilation. When Winter mentions summoning via glyphs, Weiss says it is the one thing she cannot do. Winter singlehandedly summons a pure white Beowolf, and Weiss seemingly fails to summon anything. She did manage, however, to summon a sword about the size of a caterpillar. When Winter remarks that she should be a receptionist under their father, she channels the anger she feels toward him into a summoning glyph. Winter interrupts, saying never to allow emotions to overpower her or her fighting.

Winter coaches Weiss in summoning

Winter suggests an ultimatum to her. Either she could continue to answer to and rely on their father, or she could turn away from him and explore all she can of Remnant and herself. After Weiss bids farewell to her sister, she receives a call from her father and once again declines it, signifying that she has chosen the latter.

Weiss and Yang's doubles round fight is against Neon Katt and Flynt Coal of Team FNKI, representing Atlas, Weiss' own homeland. Whilst Weiss originally believes their Atlesian opponents to be disciplined and technologically advanced, Neon and Flynt turn out to be unexpectedly unconventional and eccentric. Flynt also has a personal grudge against Weiss, holding the Schnee Dust Company responsible for pushing his father's Dust shop out of business.

When the match begins, Weiss faces off against Flynt while Yang fights Neon. Flynt manages to overpower Weiss' Dust attacks using Dust of his own in conjunction with his Semblance. Unwilling to give up, Weiss sacrifices herself in a reckless attack by tackling Flynt and enveloping both in a pillar of lava. While she is unsuccessful in knocking her opponent out, Weiss' sacrifice allows Yang to defeat both the weakened Flynt and Neon. Singed and covered in soot but still mostly unhurt, Weiss gains the respect of Flynt and Neon.

When Yang breaks a defenseless Mercury's leg without provocation after the conclusion of her match in the singles rounds, Weiss is visibly taken aback. However, in the dorm the next day, when Yang says she used self-defense, Weiss unconditionally believes Yang is telling the truth. Blake hesitates and Weiss is mystified at how Blake could think her own partner is lying. After Blake believes in Yang, the team leaves Yang to rest and goes outside.

Blake and Weiss go to the fairgrounds to get drinks together, and they witness Pyrrha tear Penny apart, followed by a speech from Cinder, who spreads her message of hate and rebellion against the leaders of the academies as well as the governments.

Several months after the fall of Beacon, Weiss is seen at the Schnee manor in Atlas, looking out of her bedroom window.

Sometime later, she is seen staring out of her window again, until her butler, Klein Sieben, informs her that her father wants to speak to her. Dejected, she goes to see her father, but on her way, her brother Whitley Schnee warns her that their father is arguing with someone. She then continues towards Jacques' study and intrudes upon a heated conversation between him and General Ironwood. After Ironwood leaves, her father discusses his plans to make her sing at a charity event for the company. With little enthusiasm, Weiss agrees. After leaving Jacques' study, Weiss is cheered up by Klein.

At the SDC charity event

At the charity event, Weiss performs her song and receives applause from the audience. At the cocktail event shortly afterward, Weiss becomes overwhelmed by the insensitivity and pretentiousness of those around her, including Henry Marigold, and loses her temper. Weiss shouts at a woman insulting Vale across the ballroom, chastising her and the other patrons for their petty materialistic interests and ignorance. Jacques grabs Weiss to prevent her from making more of a scene, but she shakes free from his grasp, falling to the floor. In her emotional outburst, Weiss accidentally uses her Semblance to summon a Boarbatusk that charges at the woman, but Ironwood kills it with his revolver before the woman can be harmed. The woman demands that Ironwood arrest Weiss, but he coldly responds, "She's the only one making sense around here."

Weiss and the Arma Gigas

Later, Jacques argues with Weiss about her outburst. The argument escalates when she pushes back at him about his marital rights to the Schnee name versus her birthright to it and he slaps her. In response, Weiss trains in her room until she is able to Summon the Arma Gigas.

Weiss wakes caged in a bandit camp during the night. A woman named Vernal appears with Weiss' weapon and says they will traffic Weiss back to Atlas for ransom. Weiss says Winter will find and save her, but Vernal says Winter was recalled to Atlas by Ironwood's order. She relishes that nobody is coming to rescue Weiss. Later into the night as the bandits sleep, Weiss summons a miniature Arma Gigas.

V5 04 00061

Weiss, finally able to show vulnerability

As Weiss notices something in the bandit camp causing the tribe to look away from her, she summons a miniature Arma Gigas again, and it swings at a bar of her cage. After Weiss realizes Yang was the disturbance and that everyone can see she is attempting to escape, she scales the Arma Gigas to be many times her size and forcefully breaks out of the cage. She runs over to Yang as the camp's tensions rise, and as they run to begin a fight, Vernal breaks the altercation. In Mistral[]

Weiss and Yang meet in Raven's tent as the tribe leader tries to convince them to relearn a way of thinking about Ozpin. When Weiss says Ozpin was a prodigy and the youngest headmaster to be appointed to a school, Raven counters that it was planned and tells of Ozpin's sphere of influence. Neither girl believes Raven as she tells she has seen magic and knows people who can come back from the dead. After Yang is heated, Raven offers to show the two what Ozpin did to her and Qrow. They follow her outside the tent and watch her transform from a raven into her human form. Raven gives them an ultimatum- to stay with her and continue to learn or to go to Qrow and face what she believes is certain death. Yang and Weiss ride into Raven's portal to Qrow. Qrow takes them to Ruby, Jaune, Nora and Ren, and the two share a hug of reunion with Ruby.

Later, the six students share a ramen dinner together and recollect about past events, with Weiss lamenting about throwing her temper at the SDC cocktail party. The next morning, Weiss brings coffee to her teammates to enjoy together. Things turn sour when Yang angrily states she does not care about Blake anymore, leaving Weiss and Ruby extremely worried. Weiss confronts Yang alone, and they share the unique forms of loneliness they endured when they were younger. Weiss defends Blake's departure, saying she had concealed her past from her teammates and her greatest fears came to life during the Battle of Beacon. In the end, Weiss admits Team RWBY is more of a family to her than her father and brother and is willing to do anything for them. She vows to be there for Blake when she returns and promises to be there for Yang as well.

Weiss immediately receives attention from Jaune and Ren, but they find themselves unable to help her as she begins to slowly die. Weiss, fighting atop the train

Recovering at the manor, Weiss and her friends are packing their belongings when Qrow informs them that they are heading for Atlas. Weiss becomes dismayed at the thought of returning to the place she has worked so hard to escape from but decides to go anyway. The heroes then learn about the Relic of Knowledge from Ozpin, but they apparently cannot use it because the questions have already been used.

Two weeks after the Battle of Haven, Weiss and her allies are in a train station on their way to Argus, a city in northern Anima, with the hope of finding someone at the military base who can take them to Atlas. Weiss enjoys a few moments with her friends, and they reassure her that everything in Atlas will be fine now that everyone is back together. Once aboard the train, a group of Manticore and Sphinx Grimm attack it.

A tunnel and the fact that Grimm are attracted to the Relic complicates the ensuing fight. In response, the group decides that Jaune, Ren and Nora lead the passengers and the front cars safely to Argus while they decouple the train and everyone else uses the rear cars to fight the Grimm, the Relic of Knowledge with them. The group wins the battle against the Grimm, but the Sphinx spits one last fireball that damages the oncoming tracks, derailing the train and sending the group into a snowy forest. Maria Calavera, an old woman who happened to stay in the rear cars, exits the train and greets them.

When Team RWBY confronts Ozpin about keeping secrets, Weiss is annoyed about having someone else besides herself decide what is best for her. Oscar tells Ruby about a being within the Relic, and everyone is awestruck when Jinn emerges. They then learn that she can still answer two questions in this era, meaning that Ozpin has lied to them. When Qrow speaks up, Weiss points her weapon at him, though he merely tells Ruby to do what she feels it is right. After Ruby asks Jinn about Ozpin's secret, everyone is separated and transported to a white space. Then Jinn begins to answer the questions in the form of a story, and they learn that Salem was once Human.

Jinn tells Weiss and the others a long story about Salem and Ozpin's pasts, which includes information on the gods of Light and Darkness, as well as the origin of the Relics. As Jinn finishes her story, Weiss is shocked to hear that Salem cannot be destroyed. Later, the group finds a path, and they follow it until it ends at Brunswick Farms, where they decide to take shelter.

Weiss starts to question the mission.

As they try to enter the main house, Weiss ponders if the residents of the estate left before things got worse. After they break their way through, she volunteers to find blankets with Yang. But when they reach the master bedroom, Weiss screams in terror as she and Yang find a pair of decomposed corpses on the bed. She later sits in front of the fire in the living room and shivers in terror until Blake places a blanket on her shoulders. They then learn from Qrow that everyone else on the estate suffered the same fate. After Ruby suggests that there should be supplies for them to use. Weiss follows her to find food for them to eat. The pair finds a wine cellar, and Ruby suggests that they close it to hide it from Qrow, as she is concerned about her uncle after Jinn's revelation of Ozpin's lies and secrets. Weiss then asks Ruby if they are really going to Atlas, as she is finding the goal of getting the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas pointless. She then expresses her fatigue and disgust of the estate. When Ruby finds room in the storeroom, Weiss is initially annoyed that it is canned food but later decides that it is better than nothing. They then take some of the cans and leave the storeroom.

V6 06 00064

Weiss throwing some bottles

Later that night, Weiss sullenly sits with Blake and Yang around the fire before Ruby tells them that they are leaving first thing in the morning. The next day, Weiss readies Bumblee so that the flatbed found by Blake and Yang can be attached to it. But after Qrow's Semblance flattens one of the tires, Weiss once again questions the mission of getting the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas. She and Blake side with Yang's argument that they are better off leaving the lamp at the bottom of the nearby well so that Salem will have a harder time finding it. After Ruby unintentionally drops the lamp down the well, the team grudgingly agrees to go down the well for the Relic. But when their leader finds the lamp, they are attacked a pack of Apathy. Found by Maria, they run through the tunnels, coming across a cellar with an exit. They are then attacked again by the Apathy and collapse but are able to move after Ruby activates her silver eyes to momentarily stun the Grimm. Weiss then runs to the doors but finds that they are locked from the other side. The Apathy screech again and they all collapse in exhaustion. But their lives are saved when Ruby unleashes her powers again with more control and destroys all of the Apathy in the cellar. After they escape and find Qrow passed out in the bar, Weiss throws a few alcohol bottles at the cellar doors as the Apathy emerges and sets them on fire. She then helps Ruby in pushing Qrow out of the bar and the entire group quickly get on the flatbed and leaves Brunswick Farms. On the road, the group learns from Maria about the Apathy and the demise of the farm residents. Weiss then apologizes about giving up on their mission.

This allows them to meet Caroline Cordovin, a special operative in charge of the military base. Ultimately, only Weiss is allowed by the Commander to go to Atlas to return home, but she is upset when Cordovin calls her friends questionable, especially Blake. When the gates close on them again, Weiss is assured by Ruby that they will not leave her and that they will all get to Atlas somehow. But the situation deteriorates when Team RWBY and Oscar reveal Ozpin and Salem's past to Jaune's group back at the Cotta-Arc, which leaves everyone disheartened and needing time alone. Later, Weiss, Blake and Yang discover that Oscar is gone and report this to the others.

The entire group then go on a search for Oscar. With no luck, Team RWBY and Maria return to the house at night where they find Qrow passed out on the doorsteps. After Jaune and his group rejoin them, everyone is surprised to find Oscar with a new outfit. Inside the house, Weiss tells Oscar that they were worried about him. Later, the group listens to Jaune's offer of stealing an Atlas airship, leaving Weiss to tell him that they will be doing something much worse than breaking the law. Qrow later turns down the idea, and the group is disheartened again. But their spirits are lifted again when Ruby decides to hear Jaune out and that they should do things their way.

The Airship Heist[]

For her part of the plan, Weiss smuggles Maria in a suitcase as Cordovin leads her through the Argus base, thinking Weiss returned to her family roots. Saphron and Adrian, who accompany them, cause a distraction so Weiss and Maria can board the airship unaccompanied. After getting on board and getting out of range of her allies' signal, Weiss attacks the guards and throws them out of the ship with a parachute. As they take control of the plane, Weiss is concerned that Maria's eyes need repair, but Maria repeatedly interrupts her protests. Maria brings the ship back to Argus to pick up the rest of the group. However, they are shocked when Argus catches them on radar and Maria is unable to fool the base. The pair then witnesses Cordovin piloting a Colossus and hit them with a lightning Dust blast.

Weiss protects her friends

Upon receiving Ruby's order to return to her and the others so they can fight the Colossus together, Weiss expresses disbelief at the thought of battling the Colossus. When Cordovin is about to fire at the group, however, she commands Maria to get to them, then jumps off and protects her allies with a stone wall. After the group formulates a plan, Weiss traverses the water with Ruby using ice Dust to get close to Cordovin to try and take down her shield. She then summons her Queen Lancer for transport and to later save Ruby, Ren and Qrow. Ultimately, however, Cordovin destroys her summon, and they crash land on the cliff. Recovering, the group is informed by Oscar about the missiles popping out of the cannon and can be destroyed while they are exposed. Weiss then watches as Ruby tries to make a clear shot but fails, and as Cordovin counters and sends the airship crashing into the trees. Weiss and the others barely dodge the lightning Dust blast as it reaches the cliffside. They are later shocked when Ruby jumps into the cannon and fires, causing the raw Dust to explode. As Ruby barely escapes and falls, Weiss uses her black Glyphs to slow down Ruby's descent and allow Qrow to catch her, but collapses soon afterwards. The group is later shocked to hear that a Leviathan is approaching the city.

As Blake and Yang reunites with the group, Weiss confirms with them that a giant Grimm is approaching, and they just took out the only thing that can stop it. They then board the airship and leave Cordovin to struggle to move the Colossus. When Maria states that it is their only chance to get to Atlas, Weiss sternly opposes alongside Blake and Yang as they cannot leave Argus to the mercy of the Grimm. They then go back to Atlas to find the Leviathan easily breaking through the city's defenses. To help Ruby in defeating the giant Grimm, Weiss uses her Lancer summon to carry her partner closer to their target. They all watch as Ruby uses her silver eyes to petrify the entire Leviathan, the monster breaks its head free, and Cordovin finishes it off with the Colossus. Afterwards, they are given permission by the operative to continue on to Atlas.

As they reach Atlas by nighttime, Weiss is shocked to find the floating city surrounded by the Atlas air fleet as if they are expecting an attack.

Weiss and her friends are arrested

Cautiously, Weiss and the group decide to fly down to Mantle instead of trying to meet Ironwood directly. Weiss tries to call Winter until seeing her more cooperative with Ironwood and Qrow interjects that she won't help them to meet Ironwood. After that they leave the Manta behind and walk through Mantle. As they do, they encounter a drunk man who discusses the state of Mantle with them, who then gets thrown into a dumpster by Weiss for insulting Blake.

Not long after that, they make their way to Pietro Polendina's pharmacy. Once they've arrived they talk to him and try to ask him to meet Ironwood.

Suddenly, however, an alarm is sound and Weiss and the group have to fight an onslaught of Saybrs. During the fight, they are joined by Penny Polendina who kills the last of the Grimm. Once all the Saybrs have been killed, Ruby has an oddly heatwearming reunion with Penny.

After Penny leaves to fight more Grimm, the group is ambushed by the Ace Operatives, arrested for unauthorized weapon use and have all their items seized, seizing their weapons and the Relic, and putting them in a transport bound for Atlas.

On the airship they meet Forest, a supporter of Robyn Hill. They talk about her with Forrest for a short while before they are delivered to Ironwood and released from their restraints. Shortly after that, Ironwood reveals his plans to the group. Weiss waits while Ruby decides to withhold information about what happened on their way to Atlas from Ironwood.

Jacques then notices Weiss, who defiantly stands up to him. Jacques then tries to get to Weiss by informing her of her mother's worsening condition, but Team RWBY stands by her side as Weiss declares to him that they are her family now.

Later, Ironwood has the two student teams gather at Amity Colosseum, where he promotes them to official Huntsmen and Huntresses, much to their surprise. As now official Huntsmen, Weiss and her friends go through several training exercises with the Ace Operatives to improve their skills and Huntsmen missions to assist the construction of Amity Tower as well as defend Mantle from any Grimm attacks and hunt any loose Grimm.

During one of these missions, they discover a strange orb that attracted the Grimm towards it. After finding this one and leaving it with Pietro Polendina, the team head to Essen and help the people when they attack a Megoliath harming the town and are saved by Team BRIR before they are chased out by Bram Thornmane. After learning from Poetry that the orb is from the abandoned military base Fort Arrowfell, the team leave the orb in Thornmane's possession who gives it to lieutenant colonel Olive Harper to investigate while Team RWBY help the Ace Operatives with their own missions. Once they are finished, they learn from Harper that the technology seems to have come from Amoncio Glass and the team confront him about the orb.

Once they learn that the orbs were designed to attract the Grimm, they learn from Harper that Glass got the technology from someone in the military and Ironwood reveals that the only person that could extract the emotions needed to power the orbs was Mantle's most well-respected Union leader Hanlon Fifestone due to his Semblance having that power and order that he be arrested. While trying to find his location, Qrow helps the team by using five security drones to help them and the team obtain all five by helping out the people in the surrounding areas, including Winter Schnee, and find out that Fifestone is at the Mantle industrial center. The team manage to arrive in time to see Fifestone extract the emotions from one of his fellow co-workers as Blake kicks him through a wall. After defeating him and Blake reprimanding Fifestone for harming the very people he was supposed to be protecting, Fifestone activated four hidden orbs throughout the Kingdom as Team RWBY had to search for all of them.

After locating all of the orbs, Team RWBY were to assist with helping a train holding an entire Atlas Military battalion reach the stronghold of the mastermind behind the conspiracy. When they entered the train however, the Atlesian forces onboard turned hostile as Ruby realized at Harper had set them up and was actually a part of the conspiracy before the train crashed into nearby ruins and the team was confronted by Team BRIR under the false impression that they were the ones responsible as Thornmane had hired them to stop them. Once they defeat Team BRIR and learn that Thornmane was the true mastermind and caused the attacks so Ironwood would be seen in a negative light by the people, they head to Fort Arrowfell to confront him and Harper while locating Team BRIR in the "Crystal Nexus" underneath Solitas due to them being the "Keepers of Arrowfell" and having access to the base while they apologize for attacking them and being tricked by Thornmane. After entering the base and finding a remorseful Harper planning to turn herself in, the team eventually confront Thornmane at the deepest part of Fort Arrowfell and defeat him. After he is taken away, Ironwood congratulated the team for completing their first big mission as Huntresses as the team celebrate.[1]

During her time training, Weiss spars with Winter frequently. After an exercise, Weiss says that she has had to move forward from the Schnee name, to which Winter replies that eschewing the Schnee name is the "most beneficial" thing that she has ever done. Winter recommends Weiss join with Ironwood, but Weiss is ambivalent. Winter comments that Ironwood believes his actions to be right, to which Weiss responds that everyone believes so. Winter insists that Ironwood is not keeping secrets from her and Weiss asks whether she can be sure. Winter seems affected by this question and does not respond.

Meet Fria

Winter brings Weiss to see Fria, the Winter Maiden, and tells her that, due to her frailty, no one but Winter is allowed to see her, lest anyone else become the Winter Maiden when she should die. Weiss questions the burden this puts on Winter, but Winter tells her that she has accepted it. Both watch a campaign advertisement by Jacques Schnee, in which he decries Ironwood's boycott of the other Kingdoms and announces his shutdown of all "nonessential" Schnee Dust Company operations. Winter comments that he has provided the spark to set the Kingdom on fire.

After several weeks of rigorous training and missions, Ironwood grants Weiss and her friends a night off during election night. Weiss chooses to spend her time with Jaune and Oscar, deciding to go to the movies with the boys.

Following Tyrian Callows' massacre in the election celebration party in the Mantle Warehouse, Weiss and Ruby talk with Maria and Pietro Polendina as he extracts the footage of the rally from Penny's data banks in the hopes to prove her innocence to the public. He tells them of how he created Penny using his own Aura and how the altered footage of the attack originated from Penny's work throughout Mantle, suggesting a hacker is loose in the network.

Weiss saves Marrow in the Battle of Mantle

Meanwhile Watts, using Jacques' council credentials, hacks into the Mantle heating grid and deactivates the heat throughout the city, freezing the citizens. The public assume Atlas to be freezing them out and cause a huge riot and fire in the streets, attracting a massive Grimm invasion. With the panic Ironwood was afraid of already happening, Ruby and Oscar convince him to tell the council and Robyn of Salem, which he agrees and complies with. Before the Ace-Ops, RWBY and, JNPR deploy to Mantle to protect the citizens and repel the Grimm, Ruby and Oscar agree to reveal the truth of Ozpin's disappearance and Salem's immortality to Ironwood, which Oscar stays behind to do.

The Huntsmen fly into Mantle on an airship but are shot down by Teryx Grimm. They split up into teams of 3 to help as many civilians as possible, with Weiss being on a team with Marrow Amin and Nora. As they battle the Grimm, Ironwood releases a broadcast to Mantle and Atlas revealing the existence of Salem, her associates and their responsibility with their attacks on Beacon, Mistral, and Mantle much to the Huntsmen's joy. During the battle, Weiss' team joins with the Happy Huntresses in defending the city.

V7 11 00164

Ironwood declares martial law to Weiss' shock

During the evacuations, Weiss and the other Huntsmen suddenly receive a message from Ironwood to be recalled with zero explanation. Confused, they return to Ironwood who reveals a Black Queen chess piece, the symbol Salem used before Beacon fell, was placed in his office. Ruby realises that Cinder Fall was responsible upon seeing it was made of black glass. Ironwood caves in to paranoia, suspects Salem was ahead of the whole time, and loses trust in Team RWBY for lying about Ozpin, Jinn and for Blake and Yang leaking the Amity plans to Robyn unbeknown to Weiss and Ruby. The meeting is suddenly interrupted by the emergence of a Seer Grimm, which was hiding in Watts bag, and conjures up a mirage of Salem. Salem reveals she is imminent to Atlas and thretens to destroy both cities if the group does not surrender both relics. Ruby defies Salem, stating they will stop her regardless if they can kill her or not. Salem retorts that her mother also said the same thing but was also proven wrong, causing Ruby to break down crying as the mirage fades.

The Salem apparition disappears, and the Ace-Ops begin to panic, especially upon realizing that the proximity alarms along the coast near Atlas are inactive. Blake asks about the readiness to launch the Amity Tower, but Yang realizes that Ironwood just said that to lure out Watts. Ironwood states that he has sent Winter to claim the Winter Maiden's powers and that he wants to seal the Relic of Knowledge in the vault with the Relic of Creation, to Weiss' horror. He tells Weiss that he changed his mind about letting Team RWBY keep the Lamp because they lied to him and because Salem is on their doorstep while everyone is too exhausted for another battle.

V7 12 00054

Weiss vs Marrow

Ironwood then explains that he intends to raise the City of Atlas into the atmosphere instead of Amity Tower. There, the city, the two Relics and the Winter Maiden will be safe from Salem. Team RWBY protests that this plan would mean leaving people in Mantle to die due to the evacuation not being complete, but Ironwood and the Ace-Ops refuse to reconsider. Suddenly, Jaune opens a group call with Ruby, Qrow and Winter. Taking the opportunity, Ruby uses her Semblance to get past Ironwood and warn the others about his plan. Ironwood locks communications, declares that Team RWBY are under arrest, and leaves while the Ace-Ops get ready to detain them.

Harriet locks down Ironwood's office, letting RWBY decide whether they'll be arrested peacefully or not, prompting Marrow to hesitantly ask if they're really going to fight. Ruby taunts Harriet by saying the Ace-Ops were the best Huntsmen in Atlas until they trained her team, prompting the fight to break. Weiss battles with Marrow, who tries to convince her to surrender and "let this one go."

As Ruby and Harriet's fight returns to the office, The Ace Ops begin to bicker. Taking Marrow's discouraged nature to her advantage, Weiss defeats him through the use of her Arma Gigas. Team RWBY then ties Marrow and the Ace-Ops to their Gravity Bolas, and leave them in Ironwood's office. Pietro Polendina and Maria catch RWBY tying up the Specialists, deciding to help the Huntresses. The group makes a plan where Ruby and Weiss will catch up to Winter and the Maiden whilst Yang and Blake find their friends to escape Atlas.

V7 13 00174

Weiss helps a defeated and injured Winter

Weiss and Ruby arrive at the Atlas Medical Facility after a battle between Winter, Penny, and Cinder had occurred over the powers of the Winter Maiden. Upon arrival, Ruby sees Cinder and instantly uses her Silver Eye powers, causing a frightened Cinder to flee by blasting her way through the roof. Weiss runs to her sister's aid, begging Winter to let her team help. Winter yells at Weiss to run, giving her a head start as she calls upon her soldiers. Maria and Yang arrive in a stolen Manta airship, at which Weiss leaves to carve out her own path. On the airship, Weiss and Ruby comfort Penny, until they intercept a broadcast from the military; Salem has arrived.

Division[]

Weiss and her group find refuge in the Happy Huntresses' hideout in Mantle, as Ruby returns with Oscar. Joanna Greenleaf soon enters the room, and tells them they need to evacuate the remaining Mantle citizens to the Crater, where they'd have heat and be easier to defend. Yang voices her desire to help the people of Mantle, but Ruby states that Amity takes precedence, since Salem is nearby. The two sisters continue to discuss the matter, but no mutual agreement is reached, and soon the heroes split into two groups: Jaune, Ren, and Oscar side with Yang while the rest, including Penny, side with Ruby.

While Ruby's group gets ready to infiltrate the military base at the bottom of the City of Atlas, Ironwood calls Penny via Scroll and attempts to convince her to return to him. Angered by their refusal to cooperate, he tells her and Ruby that everything will be on their hands if Salem manages to attack Atlas.

The group then meets with May Marigold and follows her to a building owned by Snow Snow Shipping, a Schnee Dust Company subsidiary. Weiss explains they use their pneumatic tubes to get to Atlas. Weiss finds the correct tube and explains how to use it, only for Nora to launch her prematurely. Once they arrive, she grabs Nora's eye to get back at her.

After they reach the Atlesian Command Center, they use May's Semblance of invisibility and Penny's directions to reach Central Command, where Penny uses Pietro's credentials to enter. May objects that she cannot get them through, but Penny explains that Ruby's Semblance should be able to carry all of them.

Elsewhere, Watts – now working for Ironwood – notices the apparent login by Pietro. The compound goes into lockdown, blocking the infiltrators' exits, but May points out a hangar. May trips an employee carrying coffee, giving Ruby the chance to rush the others past as Penny suggested.

Penny allows herself to be controlled remotely by Pietro, who enters the necessary commands, while Blake worries about the split between Ruby and Yang. There, Pietro says that Penny will mimic the Atlas terminal to launch Amity Communications Tower, and that she should remain on it despite her misgivings about abandoning Mantle. Despite Penny's refusals, she is convinced to do so by Ruby. While waiting for Penny to finish, Weiss confesses to the group that she wonders if she and Winter will stop fighting with each other.

V8 03 00058

Weiss wonders if she and Winter will be able to make amends with each other

As they leave, five of them are confronted by the Ace Ops, who want Penny to surrender the Relic of Creation to Ironwood for safekeeping. Goaded into a fight, Harriet Bree seals Penny in a different room from the other four, and the Ace Ops battle the new Maiden, briefly subdue her. As Team RWBY breaches the door, the Ace Ops are given an order from their superiors. With this, Harriet cuts one sword loose from Floating Array, and the Ace-Ops retreat with it. The five of them go to the hangar, where May has already stolen a ship. May rams the ship through the sealed hangar door; Penny says goodbye to the others and flies away.

The Battle of Atlas[]

With Nora injured, Weiss takes her team and May to the Schnee Manor to hide and rest. Displeased, Whitley complains about the family's reputation, the loss of the house staff and his mother locking herself in her room. Ruby convinces him to allow them to stay, and Weiss and May take Nora to another room, while Weiss. Ruby is worried about Yang and admits to Blake that she has tried and failed to call her.

As Penny's mission to deliver a message to the rest of Remnant about what has transpired appears to succeed, Weiss watches the message with Ruby and Blake. However, the message is suddenly cut short and is replaced by a live video broadcast of a geyser of Grimm Liquid leaping from the Solitas tundra into the shields of Atlas. The entire shield surrounding the city disappears, allowing Monstra to land on one of Atlas' farmlands. Monstra opens its mouth, vomiting out more Grimm fluid, which spawns a wide variety of Grimm.

As the battle of Atlas begins to wage, Weiss states that there is not much they can do for Nora and that they need a doctor to care for her. The three begin to wonder if they should help fight the Grimm, just before May enters the room and tells them that Fiona Thyme has not heard from Yang's Group. May wants the group to go back to the crater in Mantle, which is also under attack, but Weiss wants to stay in Atlas. Weiss asks about May's family, and May tells her that the Marigolds do not consider her their "son" anymore, comparing Weiss' situation with Whitley to her own situation with Henry Marigold. The conversation starts to become heated, and Ruby steps in to calm everyone down. Just outside the door, Whitley is listening in, and he thinks to himself.

V8 07 00133

Weiss begins to make amends with Whitley

Ruby tries to suggest finding and rescuing Qrow and Robyn Hill, but May tells her that Qrow and Robyn cannot save them and they need to choose for themselves whether to fight for Mantle or the City of Atlas. They are interrupted by Klein Sieban knocking on the front door. After Weiss lets him in, he reveals that Whitley called him to care for Nora. Touched by this, Weiss hugs Whitley, who hugs back after a second. The moment is ruined by a loud rumbling sound, followed by a crash. Ruby, Weiss and Blake run over to a smoking crater in front of the manor, to find a bloodied Penny, who reaches out and apologizes before losing consciousness.

Attack of the Hound[]

The group rushes Penny into Weiss's room. Klein isn't sure whether he can adequately repair the damage, but will do what he can. Unfortunately, at that moment the power goes out. May, on her way back to the Mantle Crater to help the refugees, calls them to confirm that Atlas just took another major hit. Ruby apologizes that they aren't doing more to help, but May tells her not to beat herself up, saying she doesn't know how much help they are able to give, at this point.

Klein tries to comfort the depressed Ruby by suggesting she start with trying to fix what's in front of her; he could repair Penny more easily if they can restore power. An intoxicated Willow joins them, revealing the Schnees have a backup generator on their estate. Whitley suddenly remembers that the SDC has dozens of cargo ships on standby due to the Dust embargo. If piloted by the now-Shoe Shipping drones, they can be used to transport the refugees to safety, as long as Whitley can gain access to Jacques' computer.

When Ruby and Blake go to the grounds to activate the generator, they are attacked by the horrifyingly intelligent Grimm called The Hound. Hearing the commotion, Weiss goes out to help and finds the Grimm has knocked out Ruby. It notices the glow from Penny's powers inside the manor; Ruby having regained consciousness, notices its' behavior and yells that the Hound is after Penny, not her. The Hound flies toward the Manor, dropping Ruby and knocking her unconscious again. Having killed the Centinels, Blake sends Weiss to help the others, but as she approaches Ruby, a Cenitaur bursts from the ground and attacks her.

In the manor, Penny shifts between her normal persona and Watts' hacking. Nora reaches out to her from her bed, saying no one will make Penny do something she doesn't want to. Penny claims a part of her is making her, but Nora repeats Blake's words to her: "It's just a part of you; don't forget about the rest." This causes Penny to calm down and return to her own persona. Weiss calls Klein again, telling him to keep everyone quiet, but Klein warns her that Whitley and Willow haven't returned yet.

Willow has gone to find more vodka, but ultimately smashes the bottle instead. She uses the cameras she hid around the manor to track the Hound, which is following Penny's scent. As Weiss enters, Willow warns her just in time as the Hound attacks from above. However, it almost immediately breaks off its' attack, evades her counterstrike and runs down a second-floor corridor. Weiss tells Willow to keep tracking the Hound so she can kill it, but Willow becomes horrified when she sees the Hound approaching Jacques' office. She calls Whitley, who hides behind the desk just as it enters. Though the Hound cannot see Whitley, the sounds of Jacques' computer give him away. Just as it is closing in on him, Willow summons a huge Boarbatusk that pins it to the wall, giving Whitley just enough time to type the command launching the evacuation fleet. The enraged Hound breaks free and chases after them, gaining rapidly, but it is suddenly stopped by a wall of ice; Weiss has come to her family's aid.

V8 08 00077

Weiss saves Whitley and Willow from The Hound

Penny's hacked persona takes control again. Knocking Klein aside, she strides out of Weiss' room and toward the entrance hall, passing the Schnees. When Whitley questions what she's doing, Penny says she must open the Vault, then self-terminate. However, she is interrupted by the Hound, which tries to seize her. When Penny fights back, the Hound sprouts a third arm, grabs her head and bashes her against the floor, shutting her down again. As Ruby and the rest of her allies arrive, the Hound uses Penny as a shield, but this backfires due to the protective power of Ruby's silver eyes. Ruby snaps "That's enough", activating her silver eyes and blasting the Grimm through the window. Penny topples down the stairs, unconscious, and Ruby, Blake and Weiss gather around her.

Suddenly, the Hound's arms pull it slowly back up through the hole in the window, followed by its' body with the head blown off... and, where it's neck should be, is the face of a scarred Faunus with silver eyes. Repeating the same phrase, "Take...the...girl!" with increasing intensity, it staggers down the steps toward them. Ruby, Weiss and Blake are too stunned and horrified to fight back at first, and simply drag Penny backward. As the Hound approaches, parts of its' head begin to regenerate. On the stairs above, Whitley and Willow push against a giant suit of armor mounted against the rail. Just as the Hound is fully regenerated and preparing to lunge at Penny again, the armor comes crashing down on it, killing the creature at last. Ruby falls to her knees in horror, while Weiss asks what the Hound was, Ruby murmurs, "That was...a person." When the Hound's flesh crumbles into dust, the skeleton of its' Faunus host is left behind.

Reunion[]

When recovering from the attack, the group's attention is caught by a massive explosion erupts from within Monstra. Yang's group receives a message from Weiss with a map of where to access a subway tunnel and what route to take from there.

Yang, Jaune, Ren and Oscar reunite with Ruby, Weiss and Blake. Ren asks where Nora is, and Weiss goes to talk to him while Ruby turns to meet Oscar. It is then that Ruby notices Emerald and takes an aggressive stance. Just as Oscar attempts to explain, Ruby receives a call from May. May begins to explain that the SDC cargo ships they sent to Mantle are not alone, but soon after, she has to call out for everyone to run to the mines. There is an explosion, and the call cuts out.

An alarm sounds from everyone's Scrolls, signifying an emergency broadcast. Ruby uses her Scroll to project a screen for everyone to watch the broadcast on. The screen shows the SDC ships being shot down by Atlas military ships, and the broadcast then switches to Ironwood standing in a spotlight in a dark room. He claims that Penny alone is standing in the way of Atlas' salvation. He then gives Penny a choice - either she opens the Vault for him and Mantle is left to fend for itself, or he will destroy Mantle with the bomb that was originally intended to kill Monstra. Ironwood then threatens to destroy Mantle if anyone does anything other than what he has ordered. He states that Penny has one hour to respond.

V8 10 00078

Weiss is horrified by Ironwood's Ultimatum

In the dining hall of the Manor, Team RWBY and Oscar try to figure out what to do about Ironwood's ultimatum. With seemingly no options, Ruby concludes that it is impossible, and the tension and distrust toward Emerald momentarily rises. Ruby becomes frustrated, stating that they are still where they started, and she runs from the room. Yang runs after her.

The rests and recuperations are interrupted by the sound of a window breaking, and everyone hurries outside to find Penny once again struggling against the virus. Blake and Ren use their weapons to keep Penny from flying away, Weiss pulls her to the ground with a glyph and Emerald soon joins in with her own weapon. In desperation, Penny asks Ruby to kill her so that she can pass the Winter Maiden powers on to her, but Ruby cannot bring herself to do it. Nora's insistence that only part of Penny is affected by the virus inspires Ruby to have Jaune boost Penny's Aura to combat the virus. The idea works, but it is only temporary. In her attempt to give everyone encouragement, Emerald admits that she has switched sides. With the mood lightened, Ozpin tells everyone that he realizes he should have trusted them with the truth and should not have run away when they discovered it for themselves. Yang, Blake and Weiss state that they understand that trust is a risk. The virus continues trying to force Penny to go to the vault, and Ruby gets an idea.

Ruby calls Ironwood and tells him that Penny will open the Vault, and he tells her to meet him alone at the Atlas Academy entrance.

The Ultimate Risk[]

After Team JNPR, Oscar, Winter, and Emerald defeat Ironwood whilst the Ace Ops are busy, Team RWBY and Penny sneak into the Atlas Vault.

As soon as the Vault opens, Ruby uses her Semblance to grab her teammates, rush in, grab the Staff and activate it so that time stops. Ambrosius comes forth from the Staff, and Team RWBY uses a loophole to convince him to save Penny by using her soul and her robot body to make two distinct Pennies - an empty, virus-infected robot Penny and a human Penny, who existed all along within the robot.

Once this is complete, Ambrosius recedes into the Staff, and time begins flowing again. With the Staff no longer keeping Atlas afloat, the city begins to descend, with its Gravity Dust keeping it from outright plummeting. Weiss summons Ambrosius from the Staff, and Team RWBY explains that they would like him to create portals throughout Atlas and Mantle that will all lead into a pocket dimension similar to the Vault. From there, everyone will be able to travel to a singular portal that opens into Vacuo. With the logistics explained and maps presented to him, Ambrosius makes it so, and just before they enter the portal near them, he warns, "Do not fall".

Shortly after, inside the pocket dimension, Cinder unleashes an explosive blast, sending refugees flying off of a platform. This draws Team RWBY's attention, and they begin to fight Cinder.

While Team RWBY is distracted fighting Cinder, Neo sneaks up on them, using her Semblance to disguise herself. When Yang notices Neo moving in to attack Ruby, she activates her Semblance, launches herself forward and pushes Ruby out of the way, taking the hit. Yang loses consciousness, her Aura breaks and she is sent tumbling over the edge of the platform. Blake desperately tries and fails to catch her with Gambol Shroud, and Yang falls into the void below. Penny, alerted by Blake's emotional cry, flies over to the platform and engages Cinder in a fight, while Blake furiously teams up with Ruby against Neo. Weiss, who was already fighting Cinder, attempts to lend support to Penny but is soon exhausted.

The fighting in Ever After continues, and Jaune stresses to Nora that their top priority is finishing the evacuation. Weiss uses her Queen Lancer summon to narrowly rescue Penny from Cinder's Grimm hand. Penny tells Weiss to let her sacrifice herself, to protect everyone. Cinder destroys the summon while Weiss is distracted, dropping them onto the main platform and damaging their Auras. Penny offers herself as a target to Cinder, trying to distract her from Weiss and the Staff, but Cinder sneers, saying she wants it all. Blake jumps into the fight, and Weiss flees with the Staff while Blake and Penny face Cinder. She manages to knock Neo away from Ruby, but falls victim to one of Cinder's explosions, losing her Aura in the process.

After Cinder knocks Ruby, Neo and Blake into the void, Weiss takes up Blake's weapon and tearfully uses it to attack her, but she is no match for the Fall Maiden alone and is quickly forced back. Cinder mocks Weiss as she advances, saying it is fitting that she, a Schnee, has let all her friends die first. She attempts to kill Weiss with a jet of flame, but Weiss is protected by Penny and Jaune.

V8 14 00111

Weiss is forced to fight Cinder after her other teammates fell into the void

As her enemies advance, Cinder uses fire to separate Penny from Weiss and Jaune, then impales Penny with her Grimm claws. Before she can siphon Penny's Maiden powers, however, she is attacked by Weiss, dual-wielding Myrtenaster and Gambol Shroud. Jaune tries to heal Penny with his Semblance, but Penny tells him there is no time. Determined not to let Cinder claim both Relics and the Maiden's power, she tells Jaune to finish her off, letting her finally choose something on her own: who to pass her power on to. As she speaks, Weiss loses Gambol Shroud to the void, and in the Vault, Ironwood breaks Winter’s Aura. Jaune finally grants Penny's request, stabbing her with his sword, killing Penny and transferring the powers to Maiden. His cry of anguish distracts Cinder, just before she can deliver a killing blow against Weiss.

Cinder furiously attacks Jaune, breaking Crocea Mors’ blade. Winter enters the pocket dimension and attacks her, the Maidens seeming evenly matched. During the fight, the Staff is knocked onto one of the paths below. To avoid having to race Winter to the Staff, Cinder generates an explosion beneath Jaune and Weiss, which breaks Jaune’s Aura and sends Weiss flying over the edge. Winter desperately tries and fails to stop Weiss from falling into the void.

In the Ever After[]

Sometime after arriving in a strange world, Weiss reunites with Blake and the two look for Gambol Shroud, though she chooses to hold off on telling Blake what happened after she, Ruby, and Yang fell. The two find it wrapped up in vines that ensnares them as part of a trap laid by a tribe of talking mice, though they are rescued not long after by Ruby, who arrived accompanied by her new mouse friend Little. Afterwards the group try to locate Yang, where once again, Weiss is asked about what happened by Ruby and if anyone else fell too, to which she says she doesn't know for the latter question, and insists on finding Yang before briefing everyone. They locate her along with a mysterious creature which runs off. Once together, Weiss tearfully tells everyone what happened, including Penny's death, the shock of which causes Ruby to faint. After she wakes up, Blake tells everyone that she believes they are in a fairy tale right now.

Weiss admits her suspicions that they are in a fairy tale, especially one they all read as children, but becomes frustrated when her attempts to add reason and logic to their situation backfires. She asks what they're plan of action is and Little suggests they find the Jinxy Peddler, who may have some of their missing items. While heading to town, she comments on Blake and Yang's show of affection before coming to the realization that her old home is now destroyed, and despite Ruby trying to convince her that she did everything she could for Atlas, Weiss feels it wasn't enough, and starts to wonder if their plan was truly worth the risk. She does try to remain optimistic that Jaune and Winter were able to save the Relics from Cinder despite everything. Once the group reach the bridge leading into town, Weiss asks Little if they would like to continue travelling with them since they don't know how to get back to their tribe.

After the group accidently causes a commotion, a fed up Weiss suggests they just cut to the finish and walk straight for the tree, only to find herself looping around much like Ruby did earlier, to her even greater frustration. Not long after, they are found by a group of toy soldiers wanting to arrest them for disrupting the auction, only to watch as Ruby gives up Penny's sword that she found at the auction in exchange with an audience with the Red King.

When Team RWBY is brought to the Crimson Castle, they are instead greeted by the Red Prince, who annoys everyone with his rude personality. Weiss, in particular, points out to him that there were advertisements for his birthday party all over the town when he accuses them of being infiltrators for knowing that information in general. This, however, only serves to enrage the Red Prince further, prompting Weiss to ask Blake if she was this unbearably pompous when they first met.

After Ruby convinces the Red Prince to let them play a game of chess with him, he shrinks Weiss, Blake, and Yang down to size for Ruby to use as chess pieces since she was lacking some. Ruby has her move up a space, where she easily defeats one of the Red Prince's pieces. When the Red Prince realizes that Team RWBY are humans, he orders both his side and Ruby's white chess pieces to attack the three, but they are able to defeat all of them. Even though they won, the Red Prince orders everyone to be executed, but the girls and Little are saved by the arrival of the Curious Cat, though Weiss, Blake, and Yang are left small. Still, the group is able to flee the Crimson Castle with help from the Curious Cat, who leads them outside.

Once outside, Weiss laments that they are in the sequel of "The Girl Who Fell Through the World" and complains about how no one they've encountered thus far seems to be normal, until Blake tells her that that was the Curious Cat, who helped Alyx to the tree. Yang tells Ruby to chase after them, with Weiss being carried in her hood.
