Qrow seems to allude to the Scarecrow, and possibly some dude named Branwen I haven't googled yet. Raven apparently might be Bran, which I also haven't googled. Or maybe I have that backwards.
Yeah, you have it backwards. Raven might be Branwen, and Qrow might be Bran the Blessed. Unless I'm the one who has it backwards. If I remember correctly, Bran the Blessed is the brother of Branwen, who's... female, I think.
I also have a theory that some of the characters could based off more than one tale, but last time I suggested it everyone was like 'NO NO NO" so I'm just gonna... go ahead and suggest it again, apparently.
After Hearing Weiss Theme song, I woud say that she is not only based on Snow White, but also on Alice from in Wonderland. A line in the song is 'Mirror Mirror whats behinde you and that is exacly what she is asking herself befohr she is entering Wonderland.
But there are more similarities between Alice and Weiss. There came both from a rich family and are heiresses of big companies and there are both not realy lucky about that. There are both comiing to a strange place (Wonderland/Beacon) with oblique figures (Nora/Heartqueen, Cheshire Cat/Blake). A nother hint could be the Caterpillar that we see at her first Summoning. That could be a coincidence but from every animal that we couldend have sean why a Caterpillar? Because a Caterpillar is a symbol that is often placed in context with Alice in Wonderland.
I don't remember any mention of Alice's inheritance in either of the books, and Beacon doesn't seem all that strange to Weiss. I think RT already promised us a future character alluding to the Cheshire Cat (unless I'm making that up entirely, which isn't unlike me), and we've never had two characters alluding to the same person in the same tale. I think the caterpillar was just to provide context for the size of the sword she summons. So that might not be the best argument.
^^^^^^^ Indeedy. The caterpillar was just there so we would understand how tiny the sword she summoned was.
And yes, Gray hinted that there will be a character who alludes to the Cheshire Cat, but he was really, really shaky about the subject, choosing to be vague so as not to spoil it. I can even quote him exactly and link you to when he said it. He was asked if Neo alludes to the Cheshire Cat, and his response was:
"Youuuuu, okay... *Voice got a bit shifty during the "Youuuuu" part* .... I... Interesting that you bring up the Cheshire Cat. Nnno, that's not Neo. ... So-so, I think I'm going to leave that one there."
He was really obviously choosing his words carefully.

Could you tell me the exact point where he said that please.
Yeah, that link that I put takes you directly to when they ask the question, and he says it right after.
No it leads to a 50 minute video.
Weird. The link is http://youtu.be/yQUfZLCMaOc?t=50m12s so it should take you to 50:12.
