I was one of the first to suggest violence where violence was necessary. Peace bred complacency and acceptance of our place in the world. I will not allow Humanity to push us down without pushing them back.
—Sienna Khan, to Adam Taurus

Sienna Khan was a character mentioned in "The Next Step" and introduced in "Dread in the Air". She was the High Leader of the White Fang after Ghira Belladonna stepped down until she was killed by Adam Taurus, who usurped her role after covering up her murder, claiming that a Human Huntsman attacked and killed her.

Appearance[]

Sienna was a female, Bengal[2] tiger-based Faunus with amber eyes, dark complexion and wild black, chin-length hair with an asymmetrical bob style. Her Faunus trait manifested as an extra pair of ears, and her body was adorned with numerous tattoos resembling tiger stripes.[3] She wore four golden earrings on three of her ears, one each on her Human ears, and two on her left Faunus ear as well as a small jewel on her forehead.

She was seen wearing a form-fitting dark gray sleeveless top with white trim, the top has a large diamond cut out of the back exposing most of her back accompanied by a smaller diamond-shaped cutout just above her breasts. A long gray skirt with white accents that shaped inwards towards her calves allowing from them to be partially revealed them and her over the knee black stockings with golden trim alongside two long splits on the side which revealed a pair of black shorts. Over the dress, she wore a back-revealing long red cape that was clasped by golden accessories at the top of her small diamond cutout, as well as a gray waist cincher with red trim that had a black golden buckled belt over it, which fastened a gray pouch on her right hip. Aside from that, she wore a pair of light gray wedged sandals that had red laces which were tied to her calves, as well as a black elbow-length fingerless glove on her right hand. She also wore a red rope with a golden bell on her left side wrapped around her waist with a matching rope wrapped around her right wrist. On her left wrist, she has a small gray vambrace according to her concept art.

Past[]

Sienna's previous attire consisted of her gray, white-trimmed sleeveless top with the same cutouts on the back and front. A pair of white pants that are partially visible under her gray low heeled thigh boots with a large cutout on the thighs, large light gray diamond detailing around the knees, the boots seemingly reach the top of her pants but it is hidden under her top. As well as a gray waist cincher with red trim that had a black golden buckled belt over it, which fastened a gray pouch on her right hip alongside a smaller rope slanted across it. Lastly she wears a pair of orange trimmed, gray vambraces on her forearms with a small orange rope tied around her right upper arm.

Personality[]

Sienna was one of the White Fang's first advocates for using fear and violence to overcome Human prejudice towards the Faunus. According to The World of RWBY: The Official Companion book, her first action as high leader of the White Fang was using these methods against humanity. She initiated this method, believing it necessary to make mankind regard them with fear to demand respect. Having personally created this change and becoming the leader of the White Fang, she was strong and willing to be violent, but not to the extent of hurting her cause on a global scale, which she believed the Fall of Beacon had done. She, however, greatly underestimated the descent into violence and hatred towards Humanity that many members of the White Fang such as Adam, the Albain brothers and her own bodyguards were taking that caused them to turn on her as they deemed her too soft towards Humans.

She was easily in touch with her anger but did not let it overrule her judgment. She let herself listen to Hazel Rainart briefly and also did not outright punish Adam for his misdeeds, instead choosing to lecture him.

While not as prejudiced towards Humans as Adam and many other members of the White Fang, Sienna still had a degree of disdain towards Humanity as she was unconcerned about the Human lives taken by Adam and only stopped him from killing a Schnee Dust Company security guard due to her wanting him to focus on the mission instead. She encouraged him on his way after he accidentally killed one and only chastised Adam when he went too far. In this, however, she cared for the damage Adam's excess caused to her cause rather than the victims of his actions.

Her strength and independence were also notable after it became clear that Adam had committed a coup, intending to overthrow and replace her as High Leader. She stated quite clearly that she would not simply follow him, which was predictable enough in her character that Adam had already decided to kill her.

However, she was also shown to be somewhat arrogant, being completely surprised by Adam's sudden betrayal despite being well aware of his extremist tendencies, and evidently never thought it possible that Adam would do such a thing despite all evidence to the contrary.

Powers and Abilities[]

As former High Leader of the White Fang, Sienna had a great influence over the organization. She was also fairly agile in combat and was able to easily defeat AK-130s and Human guards alike. Additionally, her genealogy as a Tiger Faunus is described as being powerful. However, she was seemingly not quick enough to prevent Adam from easily stabbing her.[4]

Weapon[]

Main article: Cerberus Whip

Sienna's weapon of choice was Cerberus Whip, a chained whip that had three blades attached to the end. The blades were sharp enough to cut apart AK-130s with ease and each had a Dust crystal of differing types, such as Ice. The blades could also be detached from the chain to be used as projectiles.

Semblance[]

As revealed in RWBY: Amity Arena, Sienna's Semblance is called Grudge. Her Semblance's "grudge" will activate on foes that have their Aura weakened or broken, making her stronger, faster and more vicious when going in for the kill.[5][6]

Trivia[]

Allusion[]

  • She may allude to Shere Khan from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, which is all the more evident as the predecessor, Ghira, may allude to Bagheera from the same story.
    • Shere Khan is a tiger, and Sienna is a tiger Faunus as indicated by her ears and stripes.
    • Both characters share the last name Khan.
    • Sienna's Semblance is likely another reference to Shere Khan who, in an ironic manner, had a crippled leg.
    • Her leadership of the White Fang, a group known for it's anti-human sentiment mirror Shere Khan's own hatred of humans.
    • Shere Khan was killed by being trampled by male oxen (bulls), paralleling Sienna's death at the hands of Adam, a bull Faunus.

Color Naming Rule[]

  • "Sienna" refers to a reddish shade of brown.
  • Khan translates as "sovereign", "king", or "military leader", in a number of languages.

Character&Design[]

  • Sienna Khan's return in the "Volume 6 Adam Character Short" was hinted at by Kerry Shawcross in the Volume 5 Directors Commentary.[7][8]
  • Sienna was added to the "Volume 6 Adam Character Short" to give her more screen time as she was a well received character and a lot of people were disappointed by her death.[9]
