Signal Academy[]

Ruby is a former student of Signal Academy. While there, she was taught how to wield Crescent Rose by her uncle and teacher, Qrow Branwen, and made several friends with whom she tried to keep in touch with during Volume 1.

Beacon Academy[]

Ruby is a former first-year student at Beacon Academy. She was admitted two years earlier than the average student, as Professor Ozpin was impressed by the fighting abilities she exhibits during her battle with Roman Torchwick and his henchmen, as well as her Silver Eyes.

Team RWBY[]

Ruby is the leader of Team RWBY. Despite being the youngest member, her team respected and followed her leadership faithfully, albeit after some hesitation on Weiss Schnee's part. She shares a close personal bond with her teammates, and is visibly disheartened upon hearing of the team's disbandment during "End of the Beginning". After Ruby reunites with Yang Xiao Long and Weiss in "Known by its Song" and Blake in "Haven's Fate", the team is reformed. Unfortunately, in “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Ruby's deteriorating mental state causes her to lash out at her team for ignoring her feelings in favor of their own, which leads to her abandoning her team. In “Tea Amidst Terrible trouble”, the team arrive too late to save Ruby from Neo’s torture, leading her to commit suicide by Ascension right in front of them to their horror. Thankfully, in “Of Solitude and Self”, the team reunites when Ruby returns as herself and share a loving embrace after defeating the Curious Cat together.

Team JNPR[]

Ruby is on good terms with all members of Team JNPR, and she often interacts with Jaune Arc. In "End of the Beginning", following Beacon Academy's destruction and Pyrrha Nikos' demise, she sets out with the remains of Team JNPR to Haven, in Mistral, in hopes of uprooting the conspiracy that left Beacon in ruins. Several months after leaving Patch, Ruby is shown to have grown closer to them and they all consider themselves a team that will stay together. However, in "Kuroyuri", Ruby expresses her guilt to Jaune about dragging all of them along and placing them in grave danger.

Family[]

Qrow Branwen[]

V3 03 00076

Fist bump

Qrow is Ruby's honorary uncle and mentor and although they are technically not biologically related, Ruby clearly loves him very much and the two are extremely close, sharing an almost parental relationship.

He saved her and Yang from Beowolves when they were young children, and he taught Ruby how to wield Crescent Rose among various other things. Ruby mentions to Professor Ozpin that she was "complete garbage" before Qrow started training her. Weiss suggests in "It's Brawl in the Family" that Ruby got her recklessness from Qrow.

At first, Ruby is shown to adore her uncle in "It's Brawl in the Family", as she greets him with childish glee and claims to Weiss that Qrow was winning in his battle with Winter Schnee.

In "End of the Beginning", Ruby learns from Qrow about the heritage of her silver eyes. With Ozpin missing, her uncle vows to finish his work, and Ruby volunteers to assist him. Qrow accepts, but he tells her to recover first while dropping a hint about answers being in Haven.

V4 07 00088

Ruby concerned for Qrow

Qrow follows Ruby when she sets out on her mission to Haven with the remaining members of Team JNPR. In "Tipping Point", Qrow appears at the last second to stop Tyrian's stinger from striking Ruby, giving her a reassuring smile. As Qrow and Tyrian fight in "Punished", Ruby tries to help him, but he tells her to stay back. However, she does not completely obey. After the battle, Ruby shows concern for her uncle when he collapses from his injury.

In "A Much Needed Talk", after Qrow fills her and the others in on what is going on with Salem, Ruby confronts him about her absolute trust in him not being reciprocated when he followed Team RNJR instead of joining them. Qrow reveals that it was not about a lack of trust on his part, but that he was protecting them by keeping back due to his misfortune Semblance. This temporary clash does not damage their relationship, and Ruby is very distressed to later discover that Qrow is suffering from being poisoned by Tyrian. She carries him on a stretcher to get help and sticks with him when Team RNJR needs to split directions.

While riding on an airship to Mistral in "No Safe Haven", Ruby is concerned that Qrow will not make it. But after their arrival, he is treated and recovers, much to her relief.

Despite her obvious admiration of him, however, she is annoyed when he comes home drunk, which is shown in "Welcome to Haven".

V6 06 00011

Ruby tries to comfort her uncle.

In "Argus Limited", Ruby stops Qrow from arguing with Dudley, and he immediately complies. In "Uncovered", Ruby is encouraged by Qrow to do what she believes is right, prompting her to ask Jinn about Ozpin's secret. In "The Coming Storm", Ruby expresses her concern to Weiss that Qrow will drink all of the alcohol they have found to cope with his depression after his falling out with Ozpin. In "Alone in the Woods", she is angered with her uncle for oversleeping when he is supposed to be the watchman. Ruby tries comfort Qrow during his depression, but she is merely brushed off. Later, while escaping from the Apathy, Ruby has to drag a severely intoxicated Qrow, who is oblivious to the danger pursuing them.

In "Dead End", after a failed attempt to get to Atlas, Ruby tries to reason with Qrow about another way to get there, but he ignores her. She gets frustrated when Qrow does not respond to her call. In "Lost", Ruby has had enough of Qrow's recent actions after finding passed out on the stairway of the Cotta-Arc house. She later stops him from getting away from the group and counters his refusal of Jaune's plan of stealing an Atlas airship.

In "Stealing from the Elderly", Ruby shows concern for Qrow as he worries about their plan. When her uncle later starts freaking out after the plan goes wrong, she confronts him and states that they are not his responsibilities, but that they need him as a Huntsman now. In "Seeing Red", when Qrow tries to stop her from confronting Caroline Cordovin, Ruby gives him a stern glare and tells him that she needs him to trust her. She defeats the Colossus and is caught by Qrow, saying, "Told ya" with a smirk.

V7 04 00089

Qrow comforting Ruby

In "Our Way", after the battle against a Leviathan, Ruby embraces her uncle and tells him she loves him too after he compliments her about the battle. She ultimately inspires him to quit drinking after this event.

In "Pomp and Circumstance", when Ruby becomes overwhelmed with everything that's happened since arriving in Atlas, Qrow comforts her and reassures her that her mother would be proud of her.

In a deleted scene for V9, Qrow sheds tears when seeing a memorial dedicated to Ruby and her message to the world, showing how much he misses her.

Taiyang Xiao Long[]

While little interaction has been seen, according to conversations between Ruby and Yang, Ruby does not seem to like it when Yang tries to lecture her, stating that she sounds like their dad. Also, during her interaction with Penny regarding overprotective fathers, she says that she knows how it feels with a sympathetic face, signifying his high degree of over-protectiveness, which she does not seem to really enjoy. However, Ruby also quotes her father and mother as the ones who taught her to help others.

In "Field Trip" Ruby is overjoyed that their father has sent Yang and her a package.

In "End of the Beginning", Ruby is watched over by Taiyang as she recovers. She later leaves home in the winter without telling her dad personally, leaving only a letter explaining her departure.

Summer Rose[]

V3e1 4

Ruby visits Summer's grave

Summer is Ruby's late mother. According to Yang, Ruby was left torn following her mother's death but was probably too young to understand it at the time. Ruby apparently visits Summer's Gravestone routinely, doing so in the "Red" Trailer, "Round One" and "End of the Beginning". Ruby is seen talking to Summer about the events in her life, casually addressing her as if she were still there. Ruby also remarks that she still misses her.

In "Our Way", during Ruby's flashback, her final memory before using her silver eyes is one of Summer.

In "Gravity", Ruby is shocked when Salem tells her that her mother said exactly to her the same things that Ruby just told her, and breaks down in tears in grief and despair after Salem tells her that she was wrong, implying that Salem was responsible for her mother's fate.

In "Risk", Ruby deduces that Summer may have been turned into a Grimm by Salem, after discovering that the Hound was a silver-eyed warrior. This revelation leaves her traumatized and full of despair once again, until Yang comforts her.

In “The Parfait Predicament”, when she saw a reflection of her mother in an unknown weapon, she was surprised. When she gave up her Emblem pin to the Teapot Lady in exchange for last ingredient, she called it a “mother’s promise”. It was later revealed the Emblem she has been wearing all this time once belonged to her mother before her death.

In “Of Solitude and Self”, after unintentionally looking at her mother’s memories, she was shocked to learn that she lied to her allies and confused that she would leave them with Raven. She felt so betrayed by her mother’s lies that she pushed down her mother’s weapon as a sign that she refused to ascend to be like her. However, her mother’s parting words were enough for her to choose herself as she chose Crescent Rose for her ascension, no longer being held back by the expectation to be just like Summer Rose.

Zwei[]

Ruby is seen to clearly love her pet dog, as evidenced by her jumping for joy when he arrives in her team's dorm room. Ruby even goes as far to sneak Zwei on her mission with her team as they shadow Huntsman Bartholomew Oobleck.

Team STRQ[]

Raven Branwen[]

Prior to meeting Raven, Ruby has been wary of her, shown when Qrow airs his suspicions of Raven having the Spring Maiden in her tribe. When they finally meet in "The More the Merrier", Ruby tries to reason with Raven, saying that fighting Salem is not hopeless and asks the bandit to join them to fight together. Her efforts are in vain however, as Raven allows Cinder to attack Ruby. Raven bitterly notes Ruby sounds just like Summer Rose, hinting a similar disdain.

Team RWBY[]

Weiss Schnee[]

1103 The Shining Beacon Pt

Weiss and Ruby getting off on the wrong foot

Weiss is Ruby's partner and a member of Team RWBY. Their first acquaintance was on bad terms, with Ruby knocking over Weiss' luggage, leading her to berate Ruby about the importance of the contents of the luggage, further accusing her of being "brain dead" due to her nervous expression after the mention of Dust. Ruby was seriously upset by Weiss' aggressive behavior and by the fact she has made what she has termed "a negative friend".

Later, in the Emerald Forest, Ruby kept acting recklessly to prove herself to Weiss. Weiss has since stated that Ruby's hyperactivity and lack of forethought is a big cause of tension between them, while Ruby was irritated by Weiss's bossy and arrogant demeanor. During the day, the two have learned to work together and the tension between them has started to lessen when they both became parts of Team RWBY. By "Players and Pieces", both are able to open to one another slightly but have not become friends yet. Although Ruby appears to try befriending her, Weiss is still annoyed by Ruby's childish antics, as seen in Peter Port's class lesson about the Grimm.

1110 The Badge and The Burden Pt

Weiss reconciles with Ruby

But after Ruby talks with Ozpin and Weiss talks with Port, the two seem to be on better terms with each other. Despite their earlier argument, Ruby acts affably to Weiss when she wakes her up, and Weiss says she believes Ruby can be a great leader, promising to be the best teammate. Although they have reconciled, Weiss is still stern with Ruby when she makes mistakes, such as calling her a "dunce" after she misunderstands Pyrrha Nikos' Semblance of "polarity" as being the power to "control poles", when it actually means controlling magnetism.

By "The Stray", Ruby and Weiss have developed some rapport, and they are seen acting far more friendly to each other. However, after Blake's accidental revelation of being a Faunus and former member of the White Fang, Ruby stills seems to be distressed by Weiss' attitude, as much of which also causes her pain, in sense of being a leader and keeping her friends together.

As of "Welcome to Beacon", the two seem to have developed a better and closer relationship, which was seen when after the two lost against Yang, each on different turns, the two hug and "cry" together. Ruby also laughs at Weiss' small joke following their battle against Roman in his Atlesian Paladin.

In "Round One", after Weiss saves Ruby from being attacked during the match, she calls Weiss her "BFF". While Weiss refutes this label, Ruby nonetheless holds it to be true.

In "End of the Beginning" Weiss follows Ruby to find Jaune and Pyrrha showing total faith in her. Upon hearing, from Yang, that Weiss was taken away by her father, Ruby is visibly saddened.

After several months have passed, in "The Next Step", when Nora Valkyrie mentions the Schnee Dust Company, she feels a bit saddened, hinting that she still thinks about Weiss.

In "Known by its Song", Ruby unexpectedly reunites with Weiss in Mistral, and they tearfully share a reunion hug together with Yang. In "Alone Together", the two of them share a great concern for Yang when she angrily states that she does not care for Blake anymore. In "Vault of the Spring Maiden" Ruby rushes to Weiss' side after seeing her injured and is relieved when she sees that her life is no longer in danger, thanks to Jaune's intervention. In "Haven's Fate" the two are fighting together against Hazel, Emerald and Mercury, before being joined by Blake.

In "Argus Limited", Ruby assures Weiss that she and their friends will not leave her side as the ex-heiress is not thrilled to be returning to Atlas. In "The Coming Storm" and "Alone in the Woods", Ruby is shocked when Weiss asks her what point is there to bring the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas after the revelation that Salem is immortal. In "Dead End", Ruby assures Weiss that their group will not leave her and that they will all get to Atlas somehow after they were turned down by Cordovin.

V7 04 00045

Ruby helps Weiss stand up to her father

In "The Lady in the Shoe", Ruby coordinates with Weiss to get close to the Colossus to try and find a weakness. She is later happy when her partner saves her after being thrown off of the mech. In "Our Way", Ruby has Weiss summon her Lancer to ride on to get close to the Leviathan.

In "Pomp and Circumstance", Ruby, along with Blake and Yang stay by Weiss' side to stand up to her father, Jacques.

V9 05 00140

Ruby comforts Weiss after she witnesses the destruction of Garden Arce

In “The Parfait Predicament”, Ruby comforts Weiss while she gently pulls her away from the destruction of the Garden Arce, due to it reminding her of seeing many places she went to be destroyed.

V9 07 00145

Ruby lashes out at Weiss.

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Ruby’s friendship with Weiss becomes damaged when Ruby’s pent up frustrations cause her to angrily lash out at Weiss for prioritizing their need to get home and help Jaune with his mental problems rather than notice her own, and for always looking to her for guidance when she felt she had none to give as if they were expecting her to say something positive. Her comment about needing to find “someone who doesn’t screw everything up” refers back to Weiss’s early criticism about her leadership at the beginning of their time at Beacon, hinting she feels pressured to live up to Weiss’ expectations. This culminates with Ruby storming off and leaving her and the rest of the team alone.

In "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", while looking for Ruby, Weiss points out to Yang her sister couldn’t discuss her trauma due to them inadvertently burdening Ruby with too much expectations as their leader. Unfortunately, when they arrived to see Ruby go through Ascension, Ruby doesn't react due to either believing that they were just more of Neo's illusions or due to being to far into despair to care while they enter shock after seeing her commit suicide.

In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, Weiss chooses to respect Ruby’s choice to possibly change with Ascension and urged the others to accept it. She also fiercely fought to defend her cocoon holding her body from being attacked and possessed by the Curious Cat.

In “Of Solitude and Self”, she is ecstatic when Ruby returns from Ascension as herself. After defeating the Curiout Cat, she denied its accusations of Ruby being weak and confidently stated her approval of her.

Ice Queendom[]

Ruby's relationship with Weiss is similar to original series.

In "Ice Queendom", Ruby is the first person to enter Weiss' dreams to find a way to save Weiss. When she found out that Weiss was pretending to be nice to her, Ruby felt hurt about it. Ruby tells "Weiss" once she saves her, she will never speak to her again.

In "Where You Belong", after Ruby failed to save Weiss three times and got separate from her team, she fell into deep depression over her past failures to rescue Weiss. This leads the results of Nightmare trapped her inside of her dreams while still inside Weiss' Dreamscape. Before she falls victim to Nightmare, she teary apologizes to Weiss for her failure.

Blake Belladonna[]

1105 The First Step Pt

Ruby's mental image of Blake

Blake Belladonna is a member of Team RWBY. The two have developed a strong bond, though their relationship was colder to start off with.

In "The Shining Beacon", despite helping out Ruby, Blake shows indifference to her as evidenced when Ruby tries to make conversation with her, but Blake is already walking away. That night, Blake is seen reading a book by candlelight, as Ruby is lying down talking with her sister. After Ruby pinpoints Blake, Yang pulls Ruby over to Blake to try and get them to speak to each other. Initially, this fails as Blake says she wanted to be alone to read her book, but the two find common ground over their shared love of books.

When Ruby is looking for Yang to partner with her during the initiation, she muses to herself about how Blake would be a good alternative, but that she might find it hard to socialize with Blake. Later, when observing a recent crime scene, Ruby was quick to agree with and defend Blake's statement on how it did not make sense that the White Fang would rob a Dust store, saying that it could have been Roman Torchwick, a criminal she encountered a few months ago.

After Blake outed herself as being a Faunus, Ruby tried to help her but was unable when she quickly ran out of the room, showing that Ruby cares for all her teammates. According to Ruby, she and Blake are already friends, as both already get along, although she is still quiet. Ruby also notes on how Blake's cat ears are cute. Ruby’s acceptance of Blake for who she is led to the two becoming close friends.

The two are usually on good and friendly terms, as Ruby herself was willing to help Blake in fighting their enemies. Both also seem to fight perfectly well together, as seen when fighting off against Roman, using their speed to their advantage when he piloted the Atlesian Paladin-290. After the Battle of Beacon, Ruby is saddened by the fact that Blake ran away after the battle. Although Ruby believes that Blake might have had a good reason for running away, contrary to what Yang believes. In "Alone Together", Ruby wishes that Blake was in Mistral with the rest of Team RWBY. In "Downfall", Ruby is surprised when she sees Blake again. But as they are in the midst of battle, she allows her teammate to head back out and fight. In "Haven's Fate", Ruby is surprised when Blake rejoins her and Weiss and asks if they are alright. After the battle, Ruby asks Blake what she is doing at Haven and later welcomes her back into the team, showing she had no resentment for the latter leaving before.

Ruby is a constant source of battle and emotional support to Blake throughout the series. In "Alone in the Woods", upon seeing Blake about to be killed by an Apathy, Ruby unintentionally unleashes the power of her silver eyes, giving the Faunus time to get away from the Grimm. In "Our Way", Ruby is not mad and does not blame Blake after she failed to disable Argus' relay tower, she instead expresses relief that she is alright. Ruby then hugs Blake to comfort her. She later comes to Blake's rescue when the latter is nearly overwhelmed against a Cenitaur.

Blake for her part, views Ruby as “the embodiment of purity” and has never doubted her leadership. She follows most of Ruby’s orders without question, such as her decision to withhold information from Ironwood due to his paranoia. She also sided with Ruby against Yang in “Divide” as she acknowledges Ruby tends to see the bigger picture in situations over her partner. In "Dark", Ruby is surprised and touched to hear of Blake's admiration of her, and thanks the Faunus for her support which helps snap Ruby out of her depression.

Blake can enjoy poking fun at Ruby at times, In "Strings", she teased her about Penny Polendina figuring out her Semblance before she herself did, though Ruby got annoyed and retorted that the robot knew that her teammate was a Faunus before she did.

In “Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds", she was surprised to see Blake kissing Yang after they got out of Punderstorm. After they arrived at Jaune’s village, she wasn’t happy nor upset that Blake started a relationship with her half-sister; she reacted blankly and emotionless, due to her depression having already taken a severe toll on her mental health.

V9 07 00147

Ruby scaring Blake with her aggressive venting

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Ruby’s friendship with Blake becomes damaged when Ruby’s pent up frustrations causes her to angrily lash out at Blake for constantly trying to stay positive in light of their situation and help Jaune with his problems rather than notice her own, even going so far as to tell her to “shut up” when she tries to perk everyone up again. When Ruby tearfully petal bursts away from the team, Blake reacts with shock and sadness rather than anger.

Unfortunately, in "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Blake and the others arrived too late to save Ruby from Neo’s torture and see her go through Ascension. Ruby doesn't react to their presence see as she drinks the tea, due to either believing that they were just more of Neo's illusions or due to being to far into despair to care while they enter shock after seeing her commit suicide.

In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, Blake chose to respect Ruby’s decision to Ascend and possibly change and urged Yang to do the same, even though it visibly saddened her to do so. She then valiantly fought the Curious Cat to protect Ruby’s body from being possessed.

In “Of solitude and Self” she shares a loving embrace with Ruby and the rest of the team when she returns from Ascension as herself.

Ice Queendom[]

Yang Xiao Long[]

1103 The Shining Beacon Pt

Overenthusiastic sister hug

Yang Xiao Long is Ruby's older half-sister. When they were young, Yang used to read Ruby storybooks filled with the deeds of great heroes, which inspired Ruby to become a Huntress. In the past, Ruby complemented Yang's hair when she was brushing it and compared it to a burning dragon. In addition, Ruby cites Yang's entry to Beacon as one of her sources of inspiration for joining the school herself.

They both attended Beacon Academy at the same time, during which Yang has shown high levels of affection for Ruby, much to her embarrassment. Despite this, from the moment they arrived at Beacon, Yang has tried to pressure Ruby into finding friends as well as a team that did not include her, in order to help Ruby be less socially awkward.

V3 12 00169

Yang wanting to be left alone, can’t even respond to her sisters “I love you”.

In "End of the Beginning", Ruby and Yang's relationship becomes strained after the events of the Battle of Beacon, mostly due to Yang's crushed emotional state.

In "No Safe Haven", it is revealed that Ruby has been writing letters to Yang over the course of her trip to Haven, not knowing if they have reached her sister or not. She writes another letter, expressing her apologies to Yang for leaving home like she did, her loneliness without her sister and their friends, and her desires to reassemble Team RWBY.

In "Known by its Song", Ruby is unexpectedly reunited with Yang in Mistral. Upon seeing her sister, she grows frightened and assumes her sister will yell at her for leaving home and fearfully tries to apologize. However, her apology is cut short when Yang hugs her and begins a heartfelt reunion by finally responding to her “I love you” after months, brining Ruby to tears. In "Rest and Resolutions", Ruby admires Yang's new arm and cheers for her during her arm wrestle with Nora.

Ruby can be easily disheartened when Yang is angry or depressed around her, showing somewhat of an emotional dependency of her sister. After Yang lost her arm and rejected Ruby, she is visibly saddened by how crestfallen Yang has become, though she respects her sister's wishes to be left alone. She was shocked and fearful when reuniting with Yang, due to believing her sister would be mad she left Patch. Ruby temporarily gets on Yang’s bad side when mentioning her hopes for the whole team RWBY to reunite, due to the latter’s bitterness towards Blake, but their bond is repaired after Weiss pep talks Yang. When she gets into an argument with her in “Divide”, she is later left visibly depressed.

V5C12 00086

Ruby saving Yang

In "Vault of the Spring Maiden" Ruby saves Yang from Emerald and Mercury and prepares to fight alongside her sister. In "Downfall", she directs Yang to head for the vault and stop Raven and Cinder from taking the Relic of Knowledge. In "Haven's Fate", after Yang reemerges with the Relic in hand, Ruby is relieved with her safety and success.

Despite their close bond, Ruby does try to reign in her sister at times due to the latter's reckless and temperamental ways. In "Argus Limited", Ruby stops Yang from arguing with Ozpin as they have a more pressing matter of getting the passengers away from the Grimm. In "Alone in the Woods", Ruby angrily yells at her sister, who suggests that they leave the Relic of Knowledge in the well of Brunswick Farms so that Salem will have a hard time finding it, refusing to leave such an important artifact behind. She refused her sisters plan in “Divide” due to believing it was more important to warn all of Remnant of Salem’s return and attack on Atlas than help evacuate civilians.

In "Divide", Ruby and Yang got in argument about whether to evacuate Mantle citizens or finish Amity Tower. Yang even blamed Ruby for their situation, horrifying her in the process. This is the result of them splitting up into two teams. Following the events of Volume 7, Yang hardened herself in order to prepare for the overwhelming situation that they were in. She was hurt by what had happened to Mantle and wanted to do whatever she could to help people, hinting at her reason for criticizing her younger sister.[1]

V8 11 00064

Ruby cries over Summer with Yang

In "Fault", despite their argument, Ruby still cares for Yang deeply, she tries to contact Yang if she and the others are alright in Mantle, but she wasn't able to get a signal. In "Ultimatum" Ruby is relieved to see Yang safe during Blake's call, and later tearfully embraces her sister as they reunite at the Schnee manor, showing that they have mended their relationship. In "Risk", Ruby rejects Yang's gesture of comfort when contemplating Ironwood's ultimatum. She later tells her sister her conclusion of their mother's fate and admits that her plan for Amity failed. Ruby is then brought to tears when Yang hugs her and proclaims that Summer is her hero.

In "Worthy" Ruby witnesses Yang taking a blow from Neopolitan that was meant for her, causing her to fall into the abyss. Ruby reacts with shock and horror as her sister disappears into the void. This leads her to attempting to murder Neo in retaliation.

Though they share a happy reunion on the Ever After, Yang fails to notice the intense trauma Ruby is going through. She becomes more focused on getting home to Remnant and her romantic feelings for Blake. In “Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds”, Ruby was surprised to see Blake and Yang kiss after she, Weiss, Jaune and Juniper got out of the storm. After they made it back to Jaune’s village, Ruby wasn’t happy or upset that Yang has started a romantic relationship with Blake; she just didn’t react at all, just stared emotionless due to her depression having already taken a severe toll on her mental health.

V9 07 00146

Ruby’s sisterly bond with Yang becomes strained again when the former finally snaps.

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Ruby’s bond with Yang becomes damaged once again when Ruby’s pent up frustrations causes her to angrily lash out at Yang for seemingly prioritizing sorting out her own feelings for Blake than notice how angry and traumatized her own sister was and sarcastically told her how happy she was she and Blake were together now to hurt her, which in turn, annoys Yang that Ruby would talk to her like that. Yang was left dejected and frustrated Ruby would say those things and run off, and deflected any responsibility for her role in her sister's poor mental health, despite Weiss pointing out they all took Ruby for granted and pushed her into that state.

In “Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", when Yang and the others arrived to see Ruby injured, Ruby doesn't react due to either believing that they were just more of Neo's illusions or due to being to far into despair to care while they enter shock after seeing her commit suicide to ascend with Yang becoming near-catatonic as a result.

In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, Yang tries to stop Ruby’s Ascension and expresses horror and sadness at the prospect of her sister losing her identity. However, Blake convinced her to accept it was Ruby’s right to decide wether or not she changes.

While fighting to defend Ruby’s body, Yang was taunted by the Curious Cat with the reality Ruby may ascend into something worse with their Semblance making disfigured clones of her. Yang reacted with shock and anger as she was deeply offended by this.

In “Of Solitude and Self”, Yang is surprised and happy that Ruby returned as herself, and confidently denies any accusations from the Curious Cat that Ruby is weak. She then shares a tearful embrace with Ruby, happy to have her sister back.

Ice Queendom[]

Team JNPR[]

Jaune Arc[]

Jaune is a fellow schoolmate and friend of Ruby's. During the first episode, Jaune vomited near Ruby due to motion sickness.

They formally made acquaintance when Jaune helped Ruby up from the ground after she collapses upon finding herself alone. This leads him to becoming her first friend at Beacon. She later returns the favor in helping him to get to Beacon Cliff after he was stunned by a near-miss from Pyrrha's javelin, Miló, in the academy's locker hall.

At one point, when Yang suggests that Ruby made one friend, that being Jaune, Ruby states that Weiss counts as a negative friend and that the two balance each other out. During her race to find her sister first during the initiation test, Ruby muses that she would not mind being teamed up with Jaune because she thinks he is kind and funny, though she is not confident in his ability as a fighter.

1113 Forever Fall 03263

Ruby gives Jaune a pep talk

Weeks after the Initiation, Ruby and Jaune hang out often along with their respective teams as shown in "Jaunedice". Ruby shows concern about Jaune who is being bullied by Cardin Winchester and helps Pyrrha stop Jaune from dropping the topic. After Jaune is blackmailed by Cardin, he spends less time with Ruby and she comments about it during their now unusual meeting in "Forever Fall".

Despite Jaune insisting that he is a failure as a person and leader, Ruby continues curtly contradicting him. She is shown to be confident when talking to Jaune such as her comment about him being a failure when they first met. Ruby says he has to be a better leader, otherwise, his team will fail with him, and insists that it is within his ability.

Ruby continues her friendship with Jaune throughout their time at Beacon. During Team JNPR's match against Team BRNZ in "New Challengers...", she happily cheers Jaune on. In "End of the Beginning", after the fall of Beacon and Pyrrha's death, Jaune decides to travel with Ruby to Haven to find any leads on their enemies, and for the justice on behalf of Pyrrha.

In "The Next Step", after defeating a Geist, Ruby laughs at Jaune for wearing a rabbit logo hoodie of Pumpkin Pete. She saw it for the first time after he takes off part of his armor while waiting for the Faunus blacksmith to bring his modified Crocea Mors.

In "Remembrance", she teases Jaune about how many sisters he has, giggling when he says the correct number of seven. Later, she tried comforting him in the aftermath of discovering Shion and witnessing another death. She also showed concern and respectful distance when she came across him training to a video of Pyrrha while everyone else slept.

V4 10 00037

Jaune gives Ruby a pep talk

The two remain together when Team RNJR splits up in "Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back". Together they carry Qrow on a stretcher to get him help. When nothing is found in Kuroyuri, Ruby apologizes to Jaune, revealing that she has been burdening herself for what they are all caught up in. Jaune comforts and encourages her, listing how much she has lost and how her determination to do right inspires them to be with her.

In "Lighting the Fire", Ruby expresses her confidence that Jaune will figure out what his Semblance is.

When Jaune attacks Cinder in "The More the Merrier", Ruby attempts to come to his side before Emerald intercepts her. Seeing Jaune and Cinder charging each other scares her enough to have her flashback to seeing Pyrrha's death and activates her Silver Eyed Powers again.

V6 07 00055

Jaune and Ruby hug after reuniting

In "Argus Limited", Ruby promises Jaune that she and their allies will meet up with him and his team in Argus as they stay behind to fend off the Grimm. The promise is kept in "The Grimm Reaper" and the two of them share a hug. But in "Dead End", her relationship with Jaune becomes strained as she has to yell at him to stop hurting Oscar when he thinks it is Ozpin pretending to be the farm boy. In "Lost", their relationship is seemingly restored after Ruby learns that Jaune and his team are still going to Atlas.

In "Ultimatum", when Yang, Jaune, Oscar, and Ren reunite with Ruby, Weiss, and Blake at the Schnee Manor, after Ruby gives Yang a big emotionally hug, she goes to Jaune next.

In “The Parfait Predicament”, Ruby reunites with a much older Jaune and was shocked to learn not only that he too fell into the Ever After, but he was also the Rusted Knight of "The Girl Who Fell Through the World". Jaune ended up being the one who reunites Ruby with Crescent Rose after he found it years ago.

V9 07 00152

Ruby’s cries after being hurt by Jaune’s harsh words, worsening her already damaged mental state.

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Ruby’s relationship with Jaune takes a hit after the village of the Paper Pleasers is destroyed by a flood. Ruby’s pent up frustrations over having her feelings ignored by her teammates in favor of Jaune’s sorrow over losing the Paper Pleasers causes her to lash out and insultingly calling them Jaune’s “make-believe” friends. Jaune, in turn, blames her for the destruction of the village because they were preoccupied with fighting Neo’s Jabberwalker clones, which were sent after her because of her grudge against her. He also blames her for them being stuck in the Ever After in the first place, which brings Ruby to tears despite Jaune apologizing right after saying that.

In "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble" when Weiss points out they all burdened Ruby too much with expectation, which prevented her from telling them her pain, Jaune looked remorseful for his harsh words earlier. When he and the others arrived to see Ruby go through Ascension, Ruby doesn't react due to either believing that they were just more of Neo's illusions or due to being to far into despair to care while they enter shock after seeing her commit suicide as Jaune looks solemnly. He then furiously demanded the Curious Cat take them to Ruby at the Great Tree, showing he wanted to save her.

In “A Tale Involving a Tree”, Jaune was the first of Ruby’s friends to respect her right to possibly change with Ascension after he learned to accept his failings. He then furiously defended her body from the Curious Cat after the latter tries to possess her again.

In “Of Solitude and Self”, Jaune looked proudly as Ruby accepted herself and returned from Ascension unchanged. He then shared a loving embrace with her and the rest of Team Rwby after the Curious Cat’s death.

Overall, outside of Team RWBY, Jaune appears to be Ruby's closest friend, working together to become more than what they are. Despite both being team leaders, they are able to cooperate quite well on the battlefield, their leadership styles balancing each other out. After their outbursts towards each other in the Ever After, though, their friendship became highly strained for a short time. Thankfully, after their ordeal ended they managed to mend their bond.

Ice Queendom[]

In the anime, Ruby never interacted with Jaune during Beacon Academy Initiation. Ruby interacted with Jaune during their third attempt to save Weiss in Weiss' dreamscape. In "Where You Belong", Jaune's words does not reach Ruby after she failed to save Weiss and seperate from her team.

Nora Valkyrie[]

V4 06 00041

Nora ready to fight for Ruby

Although not much interaction has been shown between Ruby and Nora, their teams spend a lot of time together during their time at Beacon.

After the two form Team RNJR along with Jaune and Lie Ren, they become considerably closer. They travel to Haven together and are able to engage in conversation easily. Ruby and Nora have also been shown to fight well together as Ruby occasionally gives Nora power-ups, such as carrying Nora by using her Semblance or shooting her friend with a blast of electricity. The two can easily agree on things; for example, they are angered by Jaune insulting Qrow.

Ice Queendom[]

Pyrrha Nikos[]

V3 10 00038

Ruby ready to defend Pyrrha

Although the two have not had much direct interaction, they are often seen sitting together in the cafeteria with their teams. Both girls share the same concern for Jaune, and together they attempt to make him accept the fact that he is being bullied so that he can ask for help.

During their trip to collect tree sap from the Forest of Forever Fall, Ruby expresses concern to Pyrrha, having heard birds fly away, turns and looks back at the hill that Jaune and Team CRDL were on, and Ruby asks if Pyrrha is okay, to which Pyrrha answers that she is fine. There is a slurping sound, followed by Pyrrha discovering that her jar is now empty and yelling Nora's name in frustration startling Ruby. Later, when Team CRDL are seen running away, Ruby accompanies Pyrrha (along with Weiss) to save Jaune from the Ursai that's attacking him and Cardin. After Pyrrha uses her semblance to save Jaune, Ruby expresses awe when when the older girl explains that she has polarity.

When Pyrrha shows up in "Round One", Ruby greets her with great enthusiasm, showing that they have formed a significant bond.

In "PvP", Pyrrha is manipulated into using her Semblance to destroy Penny. However, in "Battle of Beacon" Ruby still protects her from the Nevermore and does not blame her for Penny's death. In "End of the Beginning", Ruby swears to Nora and Ren that she will help find and bring Jaune and Pyrrha back. Ruby finds Pyrrha atop Beacon Tower and is horrified to see Cinder execute Pyrrha and disintegrate her body. Upon seeing this, Ruby screams in grief, activating the hidden power of her silver eyes.

After waking up, Qrow confirms Pyrrha's death, and Ruby is visibly disheartened, but she still remains stoic. As a way of honoring Pyrrha's death, she travels to Haven with the rest of Pyrrha's former team to uncover the truth behind those who attacked Vale.

In "Remembrance", it is revealed that Ruby has been having strange dreams that most likely stemmed from the night Pyrrha was killed. The dreams appeared as dark and void with silver circles floating along the sides. Despite the darkness, voices, and sometimes weapons clashing, can be heard. The most common among the voices was Pyrrha's saying Jaune's name repetitively. Ruby often wakes up abruptly during these dreams, but she does not disclose this with the rest of Team RNJR. Ruby later finds out that the dreams likely manifested due to overhearing instructional training videos, made by Pyrrha, being used by Jaune while everyone else slept, though this still doesn't quite tie in with the content of the dream itself. Ruby looks on guiltily at this and leaves him, keeping a respectful distance.

In "Necessary Sacrifice", Ruby states that Pyrrha was a person who took the chance of helping someone, even if that chance was small, and she died in a battle she knew she could not win. Ruby has thought of Pyrrha since her death and keeps moving forward in her memory. In "The More the Merrier", upon seeing Jaune and Cinder about to clash, Ruby remembers Pyrrha's death and cries out to stop the fight, unleashing her powers in reaction.

In "Our Way", Ruby recalls Pyrrha's death again, causing her to lose her focus to use her powers. She later focuses on the happier memories she had with Pyrrha.

During "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble, Neopolitan used her Semblance to make a clone of Pyrrha to torment Ruby due to knowing that she failed to save her from being killed by Cinder while taunting her with comments about how she was one of the best students at the academy who sacrificed herself to save her "weaker" teammates.

Ice Queendom[]

Lie Ren[]

Ren is another friend of Ruby’s from Beacon. Ruby and Ren originally did not have much interaction, although their teams spent a lot of time together at Beacon.

When Team RNJR is formed, they become closer despite Ren's quiet disposition. The two travel together with Jaune and Nora to Haven and are shown to get along well, in combat especially. Ruby also appears to be concerned about Ren while they are in Oniyuri. However, in "Two Steps Forward, Two Steps Back", Ruby argues with Ren about heading to Kuroyuri to find medical supplies for Qrow before Team RNJR decides to split up.

In "Known by its Song", Ruby is shown cooking alongside Ren and work together well, though she gets defensive when he critiques her cooking. In "Rest and Resolutions", Ruby notes that when Ren speaks openly that he has a tendency to become rather deep and philosophical. She also commends his ferociousness during the battle with the Nuckelavee.

In "Our Way", Ruby directs Ren to mask everyone's emotions to evade the Manticores and get to the Leviathan. She is later embarrassed when Ren praises her for destroying the Colossus' cannon and petrifying the Leviathan with her silver eyes.

Ice Queendom[]

Team SSSN[]

Sun Wukong[]

Ruby is seen to get along well with Sun, despite having few interactions. She herself considers him a friend and Sun thinks the same, shown in "Painting the Town..." where she did not want him getting involved in her team's investigation. Sun disagreed, saying she should always get friends involved.

In "End of the Beginning", Sun does not want her to go after Pyrrha and Jaune out of fear that she would not come back. When she goes anyway, he says that she better come back and shows that he clearly cares for her as a friend.

In RWBY: The Official Manga, Ruby saves Sun from being killed by Roman with her Semblance.

Team CFVY[]

Coco Adel[]

Ruby met Coco early into her first year at Beacon, where the two talked about leadership. Coco recalled the advice Ozpin gave to her and encouraged Ruby to stay on track. The two became close friends during their time at Beacon Academy. During the Battle of Beacon, Ruby advises Coco to keep her team together.

Fox Alistair[]

Ruby and Fox met around the same time she met Coco Adel. Fox found Ruby to be the comedic relief of her team, and shared he thought he played the same role for CFVY. The two became close friends, and comedic relief became an inside joke between them.

Velvet Scarlatina[]

V3 08 00054

Reacting to Velvet's photography skills

Ruby and Velvet appear to be on friendly terms with one another as seen in "Destiny", where they start up a conversation about Velvet's photography. Ruby hesitantly says she is getting better, indicating that the subject has come up between them before. Velvet also tries to comfort Ruby over what had happened to Yang after the match with Mercury.

Ozpin's Group[]

Ozpin[]

V2 06 00049

Ozpin advising Ruby

Being Beacon Academy's Headmaster, Ozpin invited Ruby to attend his school after their first encounter shortly after the events of the Dust store robbery. As with Glynda Goodwitch, he is impressed with Ruby's skill, stating that he had "only seen one other Scythe wielder of that skill..." He is later seen paying particular attention to Ruby's performance during the initiation. Ozpin is also very interested in Ruby's silver eyes. Ruby entrusts Ozpin when she discreetly tells him of the White Fang hideout at Mountain Glenn in "Field Trip". He is also seen giving her advice in "The Badge and The Burden, Pt.2" and "Dance Dance Infiltration".

In "Round One", Ruby stated that the more she gets to know him, the more he starts sounding like her uncle, Qrow.

When Ruby reunites with Ozpin in "Unforeseen Complications", she tries to assure him that all of the hardships she and Team RNJR went through were not his fault, but to no avail.

Ozpin personally trains Ruby in hand-to-hand combat through Oscar Pine. Whilst Ruby is able to best Oscar, Ozpin himself is more of a challenge and he defeats her while explaining faults to her approach afterwards.

Ozpin’s opinion of Ruby is later showed to be very high. Though also pointing out she had faults, he concurred with Oscar that in some ways Ruby was one of the best Huntresses at Beacon, his opinion. He also admired the “spark” she possess that ignites other people’s spirits but laments that she is burdened with problems few understand as a result, showing his empathy towards her.

In "True Colors", Ruby asks Ozpin if Salem has the Relic of Choice stored at Beacon now that Cinder is the Fall Maiden. Ozpin reassures Ruby that the Relic of Choice is "a bit harder to find" than those at other academies. Ozpin also anticipates her question of whether his cane is a Relic or not, and Ruby, Ozpin and Qrow share a laugh when he answers.

In "Uncovered", Ruby's faith in Ozpin begins to waver as she sees his mistrust in Humanity. She later goes against his pleas and asks Jinn about his secret, prompting him to charge at her to no avail. In "So That's How It Is", though visibly upset with Ozpin's deceptions, Ruby asks him what his plan is to defeat Salem, and is dismayed to hear him admit that he doesn’t have one.

In "Dead End", Ruby states to Maria that she is not sure if she should trust Ozpin again.

She uses the same tactics as Ozpin when talking with James Ironwood in "A New Approach". When he inquires about what happened on their way to Atlas, she keeps his disappearance, how many questions there are in the Relic of Knowledge, and Salem's immortality a secret from him.

In "Pomp and Circumstance", she questions whether what she is doing the right thing in keeping secrets, and that if she is no different than Ozpin.

In "Risk", Ruby reconciles with Ozpin following his return and decides to trust him again.

During "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Neopolitan used her Semblance to create a clone of Ozpin to torment Ruby due to believing that she failed to live up to his expectations of being the leader of her team and implies that Ruby believes she failed to save Ozpin from dying and blames herself for their falling out between Volumes 6 to 8. During the fight, the clone of Ozpin continues to use his cane to beat up Ruby while taunting her by asking her when she would realize that she couldn't save anyone as she attacked the clone when he transforms into Oscar.

Glynda Goodwitch[]

Glynda rescued Ruby from Roman's attack in her first appearance. After a short battle, Ruby, excited about her being a Huntress, asks her for her autograph, but she instead lectures her about putting herself and others in danger.

However, she is shown to be slightly impressed by Ruby's skill and bravery, going as far as to want to send her home with a "pat on the back". However, this display of affection is short-lived as immediately after, Glynda continues with, "and a slap on the wrist", hitting the desk in front of Ruby with her riding crop for emphasis.

Oscar Pine[]

Ruby comforts Oscar

Ruby telling Oscar that he is his own person

Ruby meets Oscar in "Welcome to Haven", and is perplexed when he points out her silver eyes. After discovering that he has Ozpin's soul within him, however, she warms up to him and shares friendly conversations.

In "Unforeseen Complications", Ruby giggles at Oscar while they are getting to know each other, prompting Oscar to awkwardly blush at her. In "Lighting the Fire", Ruby spars with Oscar and later shows encouragement in finding his Semblance. In "Necessary Sacrifice", Ruby shares with Oscar the fear she has for Salem and the sorrow she endured after losing Penny and Pyrrha. She also acknowledges him for his bravery and perseverance.

In "So That's How It Is", Ruby tries to comfort Oscar by saying that he is his own person, only for her efforts to be thwarted by Qrow. In "Dead End", Ruby is shocked to find that Oscar has gone missing after he was assaulted by Jaune, which immediately starts a group search for him. Ruby is relieved to see Oscar safe back at the Cotta-Arc house and compliments him for his new combat gear in "Lost". In "Our Way", Ruby hurriedly praises Oscar for him keeping their airship safe from a crash land so she isn't the only center of attention for the others.

In "A New Approach" Ruby tries to help Oscar when he is approached and questioned by Ironwood upon being Ozpin's reincarnation and hides the truth about the reasons for Ozpin being silent in order to cover for Oscar. In "Ace Operatives", Ruby entrusts Oscar with the Relic of Knowledge before she and the others set out to their mission.

In "Divide", Ruby is happy to see Oscar safe and sound in Mantle. In "Ultimatum", Ruby is relieved to see Oscar safe at the Schnee manor.

V9 08 00069

Ruby’s trauma of killing “Oscar”

During the events of "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Neopolitan changed her clone of Ozpin into one of Oscar when Ruby attacked it which drive her into shock as the clone drops onto the ground and bleeds. Because of this, Neo changed her other clones into ones of her friends as they looked horrified at her actions, only driving her further into despair, to the point that she refuses to fight anymore.

Leonardo Lionheart[]

When Ruby first met Leonardo Lionheart, she acted friendly towards the headmaster and hoped he would assist the group with the fight against Salem while initially unaware that he was in league with her out of fear. When she later learned of his betrayal and that he not only allowed Cinder's Group easy access into Beacon by forging documents so they could easily pose as students from Mistral but also sold out the location of every Huntsmen in the Kingdom of Mistral, they later became enemies. While fighting, Lionheart planned to give Salem both Ruby and Oscar so he could escape the conflict only to end up killed by Salem for failing her.

Ruby later helped Ozpin keep Lionheart's betrayal a secret due to also believing his last few years of crimes shouldn't outweigh all of the good he did in life. She later kept this a secret from the world when she reveals the truth to everyone in "Amity".

In "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Neopolitan used her Semblance to create a clone of Lionheart to torment Ruby due to believing that she either failed to save him from Salem's manipulation or due to him planning and failing to deliver Ruby to Salem which played a part in his death.

Ironwood's Group[]

James Ironwood[]

V2 08 00006

Ironwood complimenting Ruby

Ruby encounters Ironwood three times while at Beacon, each time with him as her authority figure. The first time is just after she encounters the masked Cinder Fall in the CCT and he compliments her actions. The second time is in her dorm room when Ironwood speaks to the girls about Yang's actions and their team's subsequent disqualification from the Tournament. Lastly, she with many other students looks to him for guidance when the Battle of Beacon begins. She learns of his intention to go after his airship and get it back. When Ruby witnesses Ironwood's dropship go down, she takes it upon herself to finish his task and goes after the stolen airship. Ironwood has shown admiration of Ruby's courage and initiative in trying to stop Cinder, as these are traits that he values in all warriors, soldiers, and people in general.

After Ruby and the others arrive in Mantle, she felt sorry for Ironwood's current condition and notices he looked tired when she saw his broadcast image. In "A New Approach", she refuses to tell Ironwood the truth about Ozpin's disappearance, how many questions in the Relic of Knowledge, and Salem's immortality.

In "Gravity", Ruby's relationship with Ironwood became antagonistic when he loses trust in her due to learning about all the lies they had told him regarding Salem's immortality and the Relic of Knowledge, as well as Salem's imminent arrival, shown when he retracted his statement to let them keep the Relic. After he decides to declare martial law and abandon Mantle by using the Relic of Creation to lift Atlas far into the atmosphere, she strongly disagree with his plan, leading to her trying to warn her friends and him declaring her and her friends all under arrest.

Following the events of Volume 7, Ruby goes through a major change and realized that Ironwood couldn't be trusted to make the right choices and began steeling herself to stand by her friends instead.[2] In "Divide", Ruby tries to reason with Ironwood not to abandon Mantle but to no avail. During her speech in "Amity", she said that Ironwood could no longer be trusted. In "Ultimatum", she is angered at the general as he has the SDC cargo ships destroyed and threatens to destroy Mantle if Penny does not return to Atlas. In "Risk", Ruby is the one who calls Ironwood to tell him that Penny will come back to Atlas Academy, albeit in a cold manner, signifying her loss of respect for him.

Interestingly, in "Confessions Within Cumulonimbus Clouds," Ruby's depressed mental state over learning that Salem was able to acquire both Relics makes her comment on how futile it is to save the people of Atlas and Mantle if Salem destroys the world anyway, a thought that Yang points out is similar to Ironwood's mentality.

In “Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble,” Ruby faces an illusion of Ironwood among several other deceased people she has interacted with courtesy of Neo’s Semblance, suggesting she now knows that Ironwood had perished and blames herself their falling out, especially when the illusion mocks her for thinking she knew what was best for Atlas and for not considering the consequences to her own actions.

Winter Schnee[]

Ruby first meets Winter in "It's Brawl in the Family". Winter comments that Ruby is "appropriately underwhelming", but Ruby does not seem to understand this insult. Winter then goes on to sincerely thank Ruby for "taking an interest" in her sister Weiss.

Ruby acts rather awkward around Winter in an attempt to be polite. She attempts to match her decorum and refined speech, such as using long words and phrases, and even curtseying.

When Winter gets into a fight, Ruby initially acts concerned for Winter, but once she realizes her opponent is Qrow, she quickly starts cheering for her uncle.

In "The Enemy of Trust", Ruby saves Winter's life from Cinder with the power of her Silver Eyes. Afterward however, an injured Winter suggested that they surrender themselves to Ironwood due to their strained predicament with him, but instead gave them a headstart when Weiss declared that they can't do that.

She becomes her ally in "Creation" after she turns on Ironwood and helps them come up with a plan to stop him.

Penny Polendina[]

V2 04 00002

Penny hugging Ruby after she accepts her for who she is

Ruby first met Penny in "The Stray", after the former collides with Weiss Schnee. Despite just meeting her, the two of them ended up becoming friends. Penny defends Ruby after she's attacked by Roman Torchwick in "Black and White", going as far as to slice an airship in two with her lasers.

In "A Minor Hiccup", having not seen each other in weeks, Penny acted as if she does not know Ruby, giving excuses and attempting to leave, but due to Ruby's persistence, she eventually admitted that she was told not to talk to Ruby or her team.

Shortly after Penny saved Ruby from an oncoming truck, Ruby tells Penny she can trust her and that they are friends. Penny then revealed that she is not a real girl, but she is a synthetic person who can generate Aura. Despite this, Ruby still considered her a real person and promised to not tell anyone else Penny's secret, leading to the latter to declare her “the best friend anyone could ever have”.

In "PvP", Ruby was devastated over Penny's death, dropping to her knees and sobbing at the loss of her friend. At the start of "Battle of Beacon" despite the chaos happening around her, Ruby was momentarily in a state of shock, but she was able to snap out of it and defends Pyrrha from a Nevermore breaking into Amity Colosseum with one of the discarded swords from Penny's Floating Array.

In "Necessary Sacrifice", Ruby stated to Oscar that Penny was killed just to make a statement and that she had thought about Penny every day since the Fall of Beacon. She also stated that she is fighting Salem because she knows that Penny would have done the same for her.

In "Our Way", Ruby recollected Penny's death, which caused her to lose her focus to harness her powers. After she regroups herself, she recalls happier memories with her, and was successfully able to incapacitate the Leviathan Grimm.

V7 01 00078

Ruby is tackled by Penny

In "The Greatest Kingdom", Ruby was very surprised to see Penny alive and well in Mantle, immediately getting embraced by Penny hard when she uses her turbo boots to tackle her. Ruby expressed disbelief and relief to see her again, though their reunion was cut short by a Grimm attack. The two were able to spend more time together in "A New Approach" when Penny toured Ruby and her companions around Atlas Academy. In "The Enemy of Trust", Ruby was seen resting on Penny's shoulder and looked relieved that Penny made the right choice to join her and the others.

In "Divide", Ruby comforted Penny with a hug after Ironwood demanded her to return to Atlas and that Mantle is lost. In "Refuge", Ruby tried to reason with Penny and her concern of going against Ironwood, and told her that she is protecting Mantle as the Winter Maiden. In "Strings", Ruby was left speechless when Penny gave a thorough explanation of her own Semblance. When Ruby learns that Penny's father Pietro has the ability to take control of Penny at any time however, Ruby was visibly disturbed that he could do this.[3] After Nora is injured in the fight against the Ace-Ops, Ruby tried to comfort Penny over not being able to protect their friend but to no avail. When Penny had to leave for Amity, Ruby hugged her and promised that they would see each other again.

In "War", Ruby was shocked to find Penny after she crash-landed. In "Dark", Penny's damaged condition was one of the reasons that causes Ruby to fall into despair. Later, she saved Penny from the Hound using her silver eyes.

V8 12 00093

Ruby hugs a now human Penny

In "Risk", Ruby tried to restrain Penny from leaving the Schnee manor and is horrified when Penny asks for the huntress to kill her, to ensure that the maiden powers would pass onto her. But Ruby has Jaune amplify Penny's Aura to keep the virus at bay, putting her fears at ease for the time being. In "Creation", after Ambrosius used his power to make Penny human, Ruby checked on her friend and affectionately confirms with her that hugs make people warm inside.

V9 Trailer 00038

Ruby distressed after learning of Penny's death, before fainting.

After Weiss reveals Penny's death in "A Place of Particular Concern", Ruby faints, devastated to not only have lost her a second time, but permanently.

In “Altercation at the Auspicious Auction”, she had a strange feeling about the jade marionette in Jinxy’s auction, being drawn to it until it was revealed to be one of Penny’s conjured blades, which saddened her as it was a last reminder of her. She later gives a eulogy about Penny in a heroic and memorable way to the Toy soldiers as she gave it up to them.

In “Rude, Red, and Royal”, she was horrified that the Red Prince tossed away the blade Floating Array and attempted to receive it, but was blocked from doing so.

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, during her panic attack, some of her most traumatic memories was Penny being infected with Watts’ virus.

V9 08 00059

Ruby’s guilty feelings for not being able to save Penny

In "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Neopolitan used her Semblance to create a clone of Penny to torment Ruby due to knowing that she failed to save her from the events in Atlas. The clone taunts her with comments about how it felt to not be saved by someone she trusted to further drive the knife deeper into Ruby's heart. This ultimately played a factor in Ruby’s suicide attempt.

The lyrics from "Friend" reveal Penny's thoughts on their friendship. Penny had always been grateful to Ruby for seeing the person she was inside of her robot body; a sentiment Ruby herself confirmed in "Creation" was mutual.

Ace Operatives[]

Clover Ebi[]

Clover, along with the other Ace-Ops, were called into Mantle where they arrested Ruby and her friends, who defended the city from a pack of Sabyrs. During the arrest, Clover took the Relic of Knowledge from Ruby as she tried to explain to him that they were just trying to help.

Following the miscommunication, Clover apologised to her and her friends. Later, Clover and his team trusted Ruby and her friends enough to help them kill a Geist in an abandoned Dust Mine so they could use the site for Amity Communications Tower.

Throughout Ruby's time in Atlas, Clover acted like Ruby's superior officer when she and her friends did Huntsmen jobs to help deal with the situation in the Kingdom.

However, their relationship was strained when Ironwood betrayed Ruby and her friends by declaring martial law and she revealed this information to her allies with Clover shocked. Because of her announcement, Clover attempted to arrest Qrow and Robyn which led to a fight that freed Tyrian Callows and led to his death with Qrow and Robyn framed for it instead. It's heavily implied that she blamed herself for the events that led to his death and Qrow and Robyn being framed for it when she learned from Harriet that her uncle was locked up as a result.

During "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble", Neopolitan used her Semblance to create a clone of Clover to torment Ruby due to believing that she failed to save him from his undying loyalty to Ironwood and inadvertently caused the events that led to his death.

Elm Ederne[]

Elm, along with the other Ace-Ops, were called into Mantle where they arrested Ruby and her team along with Jaune, Nora, Ren, Qrow and Oscar, who defended the city from a pack of Sabyrs.

Following the miscommunication, Elm was quick to express an overzealous apology and make amends with the team. Later, after a successful mission where defeated a Geist in an abandoned Dust mine, Elm celebrates by hoisting a joyous Ruby onto her shoulder, parading her around as she chants "We win, we win, we win, we win!"

Elm deflects that she and her team are friends, claiming that her job "isn't the schoolyard", in agreement with Harriet's assessment that the Ace-Ops' relationship is purely based on work.

In "Gravity", Ruby's relationship with Elm becomes strained as Elm refuses to betray Ironwood's plan to abandon Mantle.

Harriet Bree[]

V7 03 00097

Ruby awed at the fact with Harriet having a Semblance similar to her own.

Ruby gets along with Harriet during their mission in "Ace Operatives". She also was awed and amazed by Harriet's Speed Semblance; claiming that the Ace-Ops member's Semblance is similar to her own. Harriet was quite impressed by Ruby's Semblance when Ruby used her Semblance to catch the last remaining unstable Dust crystal in the cave, stating that Ruby's Semblance is more than just speed.

As seen during their time together in Atlas, Ruby had developed a deep sense of respect and admiration of Harriet and somewhat idolized her due to her cool attitude and skill as a Veteran Huntress. This is seen where Ruby would stare in awe of Harriet during their joint operation of protecting and saving the people of Mantle after Watt's and Tyrian's engineered Grimm Invasion when they jumped out of the Manta Transport.

In "Gravity", Harriet and Ruby's relationship becomes strained, as she didn't stand with Ruby to save Mantle because she didn't want to betray Ironwood. In "Strings", Ruby tries to reason with the Ace-Ops when they encounter again, but is quickly cut off by Harriet. This leads to Ruby having to defeat Harriet in battle, thus seemingly destroying any friendship they might have had.

Cinder's Faction[]

Cinder Fall[]

Vol2Ep7SC10

Cinder hiding from Ruby

The two first met indirectly during a dust store robbery, where she fought Ruby from an airship and defended herself from Ruby's Crescent Rose ammunition. Around the time of the Vytal Festival, and the beginning of the second semester at Beacon, the two meet again, for the first time face to face. Cinder claims she is visiting from Haven, alongside Emerald and Mercury. Ruby, unaware that Cinder was the one helping Roman before, redirects them to the building they are supposed to go. Cinder thanks her in response, saying they will see each other around. Ruby amicably agrees.

Later, in "Dance Dance Infiltration", the two fight again for a brief moment, Ruby not recognizing Cinder due to the latter wearing a mask. However, the encounter reached an abrupt halt upon the arrival of James Ironwood, which gave Cinder the opportunity to flee. However, in "End of the Beginning", Ruby finally sees Cinder for what she is, and is horrified as she watches her kill Pyrrha. The emotional turmoil causes Ruby to unleash the hidden power of her silver eyes, shocking Cinder as a white light envelopes her. When Qrow tries to have Ruby remember that night, Ruby begins to remember Cinder and is angered by what had happened.

In "The Next Step", it is revealed that Ruby severely crippled Cinder, robbing her of her left eye and voice. As with Cinder's antagonism towards Ruby, Ruby's antagonism toward Cinder is mutual and is evident in "Tipping Point" when she says her name with very visible anger when she thinks Tyrian is working for her or in "The More the Merrier" as she becomes angered upon seeing Cinder for the first time since Beacon's fall.

Cinder's ruthlessness terrifies Ruby, who is according to Blake, "the embodiment of purity." However, Ruby is determined not to draw power from her sorrow, as was implied in her letter to Yang, in contrast to Cinder, who is motivated by revenge for her defeat and disfigurement by Ruby's powers.

Cinder's murder of Pyrrha Nikos seems to have left Ruby with a degree of post-traumatic stress, as seen during Cinder's duel with Jaune at Haven in "The More the Merrier". The battle forced Ruby to flash back to Pyrrha's murder, causing her to momentarily use her Silver Eyes in reaction.

In "The Perils of Paper Houses", Ruby recalls Cinder attacking her and her friends in the central location during her panic attack.

Emerald Sustrai[]

V2 05 00044

Emerald disgusted at Ruby's friendship

Ruby initially believed that Emerald was her friend, and acted friendly towards her whenever they met. However, Emerald is actually simply manipulating Ruby and finds her constant cheerfulness aggravating.

The two first met in "Welcome to Beacon", when Ruby accidentally bumped into her while running to the library to retrieve her board game. Emerald helps the latter up after she fell, telling Ruby to mind where she is going. Ruby then redirects Emerald, Mercury and Cinder to their respective building.

In "Extracurricular", Emerald is seen putting on a friendly act around Ruby, smiling sweetly when she speaks to her, but scowling and rolling her eyes as soon as Ruby looks away.

In "Breach", after the battle, Emerald briefly joins Ruby and the rest of her team in celebrating their victory.

In "Round One", Ruby and Emerald greet each other amiably and share a pleasant conversation, and Ruby even invites her and her team out to lunch. However, once their backs are turned, Emerald expresses her intense dislike for Ruby and her team to Mercury, claiming that she cannot stand their constant positivity. Evidently, she only tolerates their presence due to being on a fact-finding mission for Cinder.

In "Destiny", Ruby begins to become suspicious of Emerald and Mercury after learning of Coco's "hallucinations" from Velvet. Her suspicions are confirmed when she spots Emerald inside the Amity Colosseum, contrary to reports of her returning to Haven with Mercury.

When they encounter each other again and fight in "The More the Merrier", Ruby questions why Emerald is serving Salem, to which she finds that Emerald is serving Cinder out of debt. In "Haven's Fate", Ruby fruitlessly tries to persuade Emerald and her allies to stop fighting as everyone is clearly worn out from the battle.

When they meet again in "Ultimatum", Ruby is shown to still be hostile towards Emerald. This shows that she doesn't fully trust her yet despite helping Yang's Group escape with Oscar. But in "Risk", Ruby is surprised when Emerald decides to defect to her group's side.

Mercury Black[]

Although they have not interacted much, Ruby was the one who redirected Mercury along with Emerald and Cinder to their location within Beacon, after claiming they were lost. She herself is also impressed by his combat abilities, seen in Mercury's fight with Pyrrha.

In "Destiny", Ruby sees Mercury's true colors after she becomes suspicious of him and Emerald. She encounters him in the stadium's maintenance hall in fighting form, despite him supposedly having a broken leg and allegedly returning to Haven.

In "Downfall", Ruby got disarmed by Mercury, but head butts him during their battle after he joked what she would do without Crescent Rose, vowing to do whatever it takes to shut him up.

In the RWBY: Official Manga Anthology, a graphic art collection of supplemental stories, Ruby is reluctantly pulled onto the floor by Mercury as a partner during the Beacon Dance.

Roman Torchwick[]

V2 11 00005

Roman threatening Ruby

Although the two interacted only five times, Roman had a clear dislike and hostility towards her. The two first met when she foiled a Dust store robbery prior to her enrollment at Beacon. Roman had a tendency to call Ruby "Little Red".

They met again in "Black and White." Their confrontation was short because he instantly attacked her, rendering her unable to battle and prompting Penny to fight in her defense.

Once again, they met in "No Brakes", where he enjoyed toying with her. Her attempts to escape all failed until the arrival of her team. Roman ordered the White Fang to kill her, shooting at her as well, further demonstrating his hostility.

They fight for the final time in "Heroes and Monsters" on top of a hijacked Atlesian airship. Their differences in their beliefs were made perfectly clear: while Ruby believed that she and her allies will stop Cinder's faction and protect the world, Roman proclaimed that Huntsmen like her will die and dishonest men like him will survive. However, he was eaten alive by a Griffon in an ironic twist and while initially shocked about this sight, Ruby did not show a single shred of remorse or sadness for his death.

Months later, when she and her team are ambushed by Tyrian Callows in Oniyuri, she asks the tracker if he has come on Roman's behalf, indicating she has not forgotten her old enemy.

However as seen by the events of Volume 8, Ruby was initially unaware of Neo wanting revenge for Roman's death. This is seen in "The Final Word", where Ruby herself was completely oblivious to Neopolitan's reason for helping Cinder and attacking her vehemently upon her stating that whatever it was Neo wanted, she hoped it was worth it. Showing that Ruby herself had already put Roman behind her.

During Volume 9 in "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble" however when Neopolitan used her Semblance to create a clone of Roman Torchwick to torment Ruby due to her inadvertently causing his death, Ruby finally learned that she just wanted revenge for the incident and angrily stated that she wouldn't apologize for it.

Neopolitan[]

Neo and Ruby first see each other in "Painting the Town..." when Neo rescues Roman with her Semblance.

The two meet again on the Stolen Airship where Ruby fought both her and Roman.

When the two fight, Roman later joining in, Neo is easily able to disarm and overpower Ruby. When it looks as though Neo is readying to kill her, Ruby saves herself by pressing Neo's umbrella open and sending her off the airship via the high winds.

The two meet again in "Worthy", and Neo's extreme anger and hatred for Ruby is fully shown in her attempt to kill her while her attention that kept busy by Cinder. Where even after Neo had successfully dispatched Ruby's elder sister Yang and threw her into the abyss of the other dimension created by Ambrosius, Ruby didn't have time to process what happened to Yang because Neo attacked her shortly after.

In "The Final Word", Ruby was shown crying and visibly furious while fighting Neo. When Neo corners her on one of the path, she turns to her saying "whatever it is you wanted, i hope it was worth it", causing Neo to fall straight into Ruby's trap, allowing the latter to disarm her and knock her off the path. She grabbed onto Neo's foot when Cinder attacked her from behind directly after, and the two of them fell into the void together when Cinder betrayed Neo.

Ruby fends of Neo while falling

In "A Place of Particular Concern", while falling through the void Ruby is attacked by Neo, who attempts to kill her once more. However, Ruby manages to get away before they reach the Ever After.

During their time in the Ever After, Neopolitan attempts to kill Ruby multiple times using her newly evolved Semblance by creating clones of the Jabberwalker. When Ruby confronts her in "Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble" and learns that she wanted revenge for Roman's death, she angrily tells her that she wouldn't apologize, causing Neo to use clones of people she believes Ruby failed to save as well as those whose deaths she played a part in to beat her both physically and mentally. She eventually drives her to despair by killing Little, causing Ruby to drink the tea to ascend. Though in doing so, Neo realized that revenge against Ruby was the only thing keeping her going and that she no longer had anything else to live for.

V9 10 00119

Ruby showing some empathy for her enemy

In "Of Solitude and Self", after Ruby returns as herself, she seems to have reached an understanding of Neo, having both lost people they greatly care for and having troubles regarding their identities. She watched as Neo used her Jabberwalker clones to finish off the Curious Cat, who attempted to jump Ruby as she was walking away, and is the only one to look back at her before rejoining her team. Alongside her team, she also watched Neo say her goodbyes to Roman and ascend. It is implied through her tone of voice that while she may not forgive Neo, she understands and believes she will find herself, and wishes her luck on this journey. Finally, she shows a minor concern about her fate when she asks the Blacksmith what will happen to her.

Salem's Inner Circle[]

Salem[]

Prior to the two officially meeting, Salem was fully aware of Ruby's powers as a Silver-Eyed Warrior following the Fall of Beacon, arranging for Tyrian to capture her rather than the Spring Maiden, though she does not elaborate on why she wants the girl alive. It is later revealed in "Dark" and "Risk" that Salem turns Silver Eyed Warriors into Grimm-Hybrids, and Ruby realized that is likely Salem's plan for her should she be captured. In "Punished", Ruby hears of Salem for the first time through her uncle Qrow, when Tyrian reveals that "the queen" sent him to fetch her.

V7 11 00150

Ruby and Salem's first encounter with each other.

In "Necessary Sacrifice", Ruby states that she is afraid of Salem for her willingness to kill both her enemies and innocent bystanders. In "Haven's Fate", Ruby is confronted by an enormous illusion of Salem created by Emerald's breakdown, the sight of which left Ruby utterly terrified.

In "The Lost Fable", Ruby witnesses Salem's past, including her fall into darkness from a failed suicide attempt, courtesy of Jinn's storytelling. When she learns that Salem is cursed to be immortal and cannot be destroyed, Ruby is shocked silent.

In "Gravity" they encounter for the first time through Salem's apparition from her Seer. Ruby was initially defiant to Salem and her threats, but broke down crying when Salem told her that her mother was also defiant, but was wrong too, implying Salem presumably is responsible for her death.

In "The Perils of Paper Houses", Ruby suffers a panic attack during her fight with the Jabberwalker clone, causing her to hallucinate Salem's face and terrifying her.

Tyrian Callows[]

V4 06 00052

Ruby and Tyrian fighting

Salem arranges for Tyrian to find and capture Ruby. Tyrian, though briefly dejected that he is not supposed to kill her, quickly becomes gleeful and anxious to begin the hunt. He strongly hinted that he's willing to destroy one of Ruby's eyes in the interest of avenging Cinder's crippled one. Tyrian tracks Ruby to Oniyuri, where he reveals his plans to capture her.

The battle concludes when Ruby cuts off Tyrian's stinger after Qrow is struck with it. The dismemberment elicits Tyrian into calling her a bitch.

Ever After[]

Little[]

Ruby helped Little by pulling a cheese radish for them. At first, Ruby was surprised the mouse was talking, but she got used to it. She even gave them a name temporarily, even though they don't have one since they are too young to have one. She isn't bothered by Little sleeping in her cloak.

In “The Perils of Paper Houses”, Little was the only one she didn’t take out her anger on them.

In “Tea Amidst Terrible Trouble”, when Ruby notices Little’s presence, she told them to leave since she believes every person she's close with dies. When Little refuses to leave, she ends up yell at them to leave and walk off. After being betrayed by the Curious Cat, she is unable to listen to Little after they save her. She only reacted in horror when Neo kills them, which ends up being the final straw to convince her into drink the tea and ascend.

In “Of Solitude and Self”, after Ruby accepted herself as enough and helped her team defeat the Curious Cat, she tells her friends she didn't see Little and she wanted to say thank you to them. But then, a large mouse run up to her and Ruby realizes that they have ascended and says their name in happiness. The large mouse asks if they know her, Ruby replies that they haven't met and asks what they are, the large mouse replies back that they haven't thought about it. So, Ruby and her friends help them describe what they are, and they decided to name themselves Somewhat, and Ruby bids goodbye to them with tears in her eyes, Somewhat comforts her saying it will alright by calling her a Huntress.

When the Blacksmith summons a figurine of Somewhat and hands it to Ruby, she acknowledges that Ruby’s small act of kindness to Little, led to their transformation as Somewhat as one of the many great impacts made during their time in the Ever After.

Red Prince[]

Ruby meets the Red Prince in "Rude, Red, and Royal", on his birthday and realized that wasn't the Red King like in the story, when he rejects one of Penny's swords, he kicks it aways as it was green, but then Ruby tells him she heard he likes games if she wins, he'll take him to the tree. Ruby becomes shocked when the Red Prince shrinks Weiss, Blake, and Yang to fill in the empty spaces of the game they play. She defeats the Prince in the game, causing the latter to throw a temper tantrum, and orders to kill her and her team before being interrupted by the Curious Cat.

Curious Cat[]

Ruby met the Curious Cat at the Red Prince’s castle where they saved her and her friends. After that, she tried to get Curious Cat to take them to the Great Tree, but refuses. Instead, she came up a plan to lead them by asking them questions about Remnant. During the travels, she along with her team gets annoyed and tired of the cat asking a lot of questions.

The Cat manages to protect Ruby from the Herbalist, when Ruby wasn’t able to confront her younger self. Their relationship becomes strained when she learns that the Cat wasn't telling anyone the full story about Alyx and Lewis. They claimed that they didn’t know what happened to Alyx and Lewis and bids Ruby farewell.

After the Cat appeared once again to save Ruby from Neo, Ruby tells the Cat that she doesn’t want to be herself anymore and the Cat responds that they can her instead before revealing that they’ve been trying to wear her down, sinking their claws into Ruby causing her to scream in agony. The Cat further reveals that they’ve been manipulating her, using their seemingly innocent questions to make Ruby become to fall into despair and devoid of purpose so they could possess her and make her their vessel.

V9 10 00117

Despite everything the Cat did Ruby alongside her teammates react in horror as the Cat is brutally killed by the Jabberwalker clones

In “Of Solitude and Self”, after Ruby returns as herself, the Cat tries to attack but was quickly overpowered and defeated by her and the rest of her team, the Cat tries to mentally break her by reminding her of her failures and expressing their thoughts on humans, but her friends deny their claims and Ruby tells the Cat that they’re going to Remnant, while the Cat stays in the Ever After, the Cat tries to attack her, but was caught and killed by the Jabberwalker clones created by Neo, while Ruby and the others watch in horror.

Blacksmith[]

Ruby first meets the Blacksmith in, "A Tale Involving a Tree" when the latter summons her to her domain, when Ruby see’s Penny’s sword, she expresses her thought that she lost it, with the Blacksmith replying "nothing... no one... is truly lost". The Smith then notices that Ruby is troubled and carrying a heavy burden, Ruby states that she can handle it. Despite the human's assurance, the Blacksmith laid down the offer to allow Ruby to lay down her burden in exchange to replace her missing weapon. Even when the offer was politely declined, the smith still held the offer open should Ruby change her mind before sending her back to the Garden.

Others[]

Jinn[]

Ruby summons Jinn from the Relic of Knowledge by following Oscar's instructions. She asks what Ozpin is hiding, and the magical being responds by revealing the distant past of Remnant, when Salem and Ozpin, then known as Ozma, first met. In "Our Way", Ruby summons Jinn out of panic and she apologize to Jinn that she does not have a question for her and she need time to use her powers. Though Jinn warns her that she won't be able to do that again, she admitted it was a clever move.

In "Alone in the Woods", Ruby learns how to properly utilizes her powers as a silver-eyed warrior from Maria, and later leaves the elder in awe after she destroys the pack of Apathy. After they leave Brunswick Farms, Ruby learns that Maria was a former Silver-Eyed warrior herself. In "The Grimm Reaper", after learning of Maria's past, Ruby asks for training to properly use the power of her eyes. In "Dead End", Ruby learns from Maria more of the elder's past and gains a better understanding of her powers.

Caroline Cordovin[]

Upon meeting Cordovin in "Dead End", Ruby tries to "sweet talk" with her to get the group passage to Atlas, to no avail. In "The Lady in the Shoe", Ruby destroys Cordovin's missile that was aimed at the airship, as a declaration to fight the Commander. In "Seeing Red", Ruby refuses to surrender to Cordovin and ridicules the Commander for abusing her powers when she should be protecting the people of Argus. After a failed attempt for a truce, Ruby defeats Cordovin by exploding the cannon's Dust.

In "Our Way", Ruby thanks Cordovin for helping her and her friends defeat the Leviathan and apologizes for stealing her airship, Cordovin in return, allows them to go to Atlas.
