There are sixteen episodes in Volume One, which covers the first half of the season. Episodes vary in length, with the first episode, mid-volume episode, and finale around eleven minutes long, and other episodes as short as five minutes long.

Volume 1 ran from July 18th, 2013 until November 7th, 2013, after which it was released on DVD and Blu-ray. The first episode of Volume 2 premiered at RTX 2014 on July 4th, 2014, and premiered to the public on July 24th, 2014.

There are four trailers leading up to the premiere of RWBY. Each trailer is referred to by a certain color or letter, and features a character respective to such specifications. For example, the "Red" Trailer featured the character "Red" Ruby. The trailers were released in the same order that the characters' letters are in the show and team name, ''RWBY''.
