The thirteenth chapter of the manga adaptation of RWBY was published in Shueisha's Ultra Jump January 2017 issue on December 19th, 2016.[1]
Summary[]
In the midst of the battle, Ruby Rose and Weiss Schnee discuss the Tentacle Grimm. Weiss suggests that it must be some type of possession Grimm and mentions that she once fought a possession-type Grimm while training. However, the one that she fought was only able to possess inorganic matter, unlike the one that had fused the King Taijitus. While talking, the two fail to notice a King Taijitu approaching from behind. Blake Belladonna tosses Gambol Shroud at it and calls out to them. Yang Xiao Long is caught standing in a King Taijitu's mouth, holding it open, but she manages to escape and join up with her teammates.
Blake suggests attacking the Tentacle Grimm, and Jaune Arc calls for the eight of them to work together to distract all eight heads at the same time. While Team JNPR gets ready to do their part, Blake mentions to Ruby that she once read a story about an eight-headed snake with a beautiful sword inside of it, prompting excitement from Ruby. Team RWBY then gets ready to execute their plan.

- Weiss mentions that the Grimm that keeps the King Taijitus together is similar to the possession type that controls the Arma Gigas from "Chapter 3".
- In light of them fighting an eight-headed snake, Blake mentions a story about an eight-headed snake with a sword inside of it, referencing Japanese mythology about a sword called Kusanagi that came from within an eight-headed snake named Yamata no Orochi.
